Amazon's New "Message from Brandon Sanderson"
« on: February 10, 2006, 08:51:32 PM »
Anyone who bought Elantris from Amazon check out Amazon lately?  They've sent everyone who bought the book a message from EUOL--advertising Mistborn, his blog, and his profile.  You can also check it out if you look at Elantris on Amazon.  My mom told me about this this morning--she was surprised to see the note.  EOUL, did you have to kill someone to have this happen, or is it just one of the perks of Amazon?

Oh, I've no doubt that Allomancy was involved. A little Soothing here and there...  ;)

I didn't get one.  How rude.

I'd like to know how they determine who "gets one."  My mom had one waiting for her on her Amazon "home page" when she logged in.  I bought my copy through her account, so I don't count--wouldn't get one anyway.  Fish--you didn't have one at all?

Publisher's Weekly was actually just talking last week about Amazon starting a blog-like thing for authors, so I imagine this is part of that. I don't remember the details--I'll try to remember to look it up.

Actually, this is giving me ideas. EUOL, when you read this, can you tell me how you actually did this (barring allomancy)? Was it through Tor or something you did yourself?

Never mind, now I have one.

That is so weird to click on Amazon and have Brandon show up on the front page.

It's weirding me out, actually.

No secret.  I just clicked on the link on Toby's page next to his little Amazon blog post--it said something like "Authors get your own blog page thingy."  It walked me through the process.  I had to get my agent or editor to authenticate that I was indeed the author of the book.

If you can't get it on the front page, you can go to the "Elantris" page and scroll down and see the 'blog' info.

Well good job for doing it, EUOL--fantastic way to build buzz for Mistborn.

My boss got this today, too. Looks like a lot of people did, which hopefully will be good for Mistborn.
