Jamie Bell! Of course! 22 to play a 16 year old isn't too bad, and I think he looks like a rather good Spook....He's a good actor, too.

And I love the new pick for Vin--Stephanie Leonidas. She's perfect. A ton better than Summer Glau, and a fair bit better than the other one--Nicki Aycox.

Cliff Simon would make a REALLY good Straff.

Can Stephanie Leonidas kick butt? I admit she looks the part.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Can Stephanie Leonidas kick butt? I admit she looks the part.

She definately looks the part and she played the character Jenne in the movie titled Kruistocht in spijkerbroek. Now, I don't know what that says but here is the plot synopsis from IMDB.com

"The Fifteen year old Dolf uses a prototype time machine and gets stuck in the Dark Ages. He gets struck down by bandits, but is saved by the beautiful and tough Jenne. She is part of a children's crusade: eightthousend children on their way to Jerusalem to free the city of the Persians. Dolf helps the children to defy the terrible mountains, to conquer disease and to fight evil knights. Slowly Dolf begins to realize, the real danger does not lurk behind the next mountaintop, but the danger is the crusade itself. Dolf suspects the charismatic leader of the crusade, father Anselmus, to use him as a pawn in his horrifying plan... "

So maybe she can kick butt....

I say give it to Japan, Hayao Miyazaki and... Tensai Okamura perhaps?
If Mistborn were to be a movie we all know that who ever was doing it would absolutely have to slaughter the plot to make it fit, and Miyazaki while slaughtering Howl's Moving Castle still managed to make it an excellent movie, but we'd also need someone very good at action sequences and who is familiar with working with unique powers... thus Okamura
Plus for some reason whenever I think of Kelsier I think of Howl... no idea why, that's just the character I have in my head for him.
Fear my obscure references.

It makes me laugh to think of Mistborn testing metals and coming to Cesium

If Mistborn was to be animated, Miyazaki would be my number one choice as well.

Oh, but why waste such a good story on animation? :(

To be honest, something like Mistborn would prosper from animation. Sure it COULD be done as a live action, but I think if it was given to capable hands, it could be one amazing animation feature.

Has anyone suggested Keanu Reeves for Kelsier?  I hope not because it's a bad idea.  Hmm, if only we could find a ten-year-old mature enough to play Vin...

Great, now I have this horrible mental image of Ted saying "There's always another secret."

Keanu might fit the look for the part, but I just can't imagine Kel screaming "Ruufus" and seriously saying "Dude" - even in the Matrix, it was sometimes hard to get the images of Bill and Ted and their Excellent and Bogus Adventures ouyt of my head.

You know, when I was reading Mistborn I always envisioned Kelsier to look like Jack Van Burace form the original Wild Arms game. Just with shorter hair and some scars and maybe a little older.

What about Adam Baldwin? Not sure if someone already had this idea, but Marsh is who he kept popping up as for me. A little more built than necessary, but I think he could actually pull off all the turns.
