Am I the only one that never pictured Elend Venture as a super-heart-throb? It really confuses me to hear people say he should be cast as someone like Orlando Bloom...

I always pictured Elend as passingly attractive but not 'man-pretty' by any means!
I honestly never pictured vin as drop-dead-gorgeous either... Pretty in the first book, maybe as much as 'beautiful' by the third book, when she has finally found balance in her life...

Anyway :)

I like the idea of:

Elend as Joshua Jackson. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005045/
He's got a young enough face to be able to pull of early twenties/late teens...how old is El' anyway?

Do you think maybe Morgan Freeman's voice would be too deep for a eunuch? ;-P

You know.... that never occured to me :D

I guess I'm tainted by the lack of experience.... never knew a eunuch inreal life :D

I think Mila Jovich is a bit too old, and not good enough of an actress to play Vin. I actually always pictured Vin looking like the daughter from the Incredibles. Odd, I know, but thats kind of how it struck me. Closest approximation of her in real actresses would probably be Mirando Cosgrove from iCarly, but she might be too "perky" to pull off the role. If Neve Campbell was younger, she might work. anyway, I picture long raven hair, a little rough around the edges, between 16-22 years old.

for a eunuch...   the first person who comes to mind is Steve Coogan. although David Tennet might be able to fill the role.

Hahaha! Well, I don't think there's a whole lot of grown men out there who could play him without sort of skirting around the whole eunuch thing.

I cannot begin to describe how opposed I am to Orlando Bloom playing Elend. For one, Bloom really isn't THAT good of an actor. And two, while he's hot, he's WAY too pretty-boy for El. While I think El is supposed to be good-looking (I liked him pretty much right off the bat, the second the messy dark hair was described, and he just seemed so witty and smart...), he's definitely not supposed to be a pretty-boy. I mean, Vin says in HOA that she liked El before he became dreamy. That says to me he wasn't necessarily dreamy in FE.

I also have to disagree with Summer Glau for Vin. I really don't think she looks like Vin at all. Her face is too....un-Vin-like. I can't really describe it. I like her as an actress, I just don't think she's Vin.

When I'm looking for casts for movies, it matters less to me about skill of the actor. My options aren't going to get picked, so I choose people based on appearance.

Vin: Nicki Aycox (looks nearly perfect. Age could be younger, but she doesn't look as old as she is)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0043704/
Kelsier: Daniel Craig (He may not be the PERFECT Kelsier, but I think he's close. Approx right age and look)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0185819/
Dox: Adam Baldwin (Older than Craig, and I think Dox should be older than Kell, just not by much)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000284/
Sazed: Erick Avari (pretty much IS Sazed)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0042805/
Ham: Alan Tudyk
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0876138/
Breeze: Tom Sizemore
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001744/
Clubs: Jeremy Irons (loved this idea)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000460/
Spook: Rory Culkin (possibly, but far from the best. will keep looking..)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0191412/
Elend: Julian Morris (he makes me giggle...)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0606690/
Marsh: Sean Bean
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000293/
Lord Ruler: Christopher Walken (among many other possibilities...)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000686/
Renoux: Alan Rickman
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000614/

Still looking for Yeden, Demoux, and Goradel (just for kicks and giggles)

Jake Gylenhall (spelling fail?) as Elend

Nathan Fillion would be the greatest Kel ever.

Nicki Aycox or Summer Glau as Vin.

I can't think of anyone else's character right now, besides Bruce Willis as Ham...or is he too old?

You know, I'm warming up more and more to the idea of both Sean Bean and David Wendham being cast as Kell and Marsh (not respectively, the roles could be switched, I just can't decide who for who right now). Heck, they already played brothers in LotR, why not Mistborn? I think they have a good chemistry together and both are fantastic actors.

Actually, that's not a bad idea--David Wenham and Sean Bean. I already think Sean Bean's a pretty good pick for Marsh...When I first saw your suggestion, I wasn't sure, but now when I think about Faramir being Kell. I rather like that. For some reason....I really liked Faramir. He rocked (in the books). Kell rocks too, so Wenham works.

I've never seen Summer Glau (who seems to be the top pick for Vin) in action, but what about Stephanie Leonidas? She's still a little on the old side (24, I think), but she looks young for her age, and I think she did a good job in Mirrormask (where, incidentally, she played a 15-year-old).

I think you are dead on.

David Tennant would be my choice for Kelsier. Wiki's Pic is better.
Marsh: Hugh Jackman! Looks close enough to Tennant to be an older brother, and a perfect role for him.
Dox to me was always a very tired Jackie Chan.
Russel Crowe was Ham in my reading.
Shan Elariel: Cobie Smulders.
Sazed: Wayne Brady.
TLR: Morgan frickin' Freeman.
Zane: a younger Hugh Grant.
Yeden: Hugh Laurie. (I think I have employed half of film's Hughs in this casting. It is disturbing to me.)
Renoux: Pierce Brosnan.
Clubs: If only Fred Astaire were alive... I suppose Woody Allen would do in a pinch.

Lots of these roles would be very different from what the actors are used to doing, but visually it's spot on to me. Plus I see a lot of potential in Wayne Brady as a dramatic actor.

Did I totally misread the books in casting Terrismen as black people?

EDIT: Fixed Fred's link. Also, I totally didn't notice Morgan Freeman above as a choice for Sazed. It just occurred to me that he has played god before (Bruce Almighty), so TLR wouldn't be totally new turf.

Ha ha ha... Cliff Simon as Rashek! Honestly, I think that would be a waste of acting talent and evilness. TLR isn't onscreen enough. Baal's evilness is mostly in the way he talks and the schemes he comes up with. He's also not powerfully built like I think TLR needs to be.

I could see Cliff Simon as Straff, though.
