I liked Beauty, more than Rose Daughter.

I'm happy because I got to eat El Pollo Loco chicken taquitos with the most heavenly guacamole for dinner tonight. They really should have El Pollo Loco in Utah--for fast food, it's quite good.

However, El Pollo Loco is not enough to keep me here in So Cal. I'm VERY happy because I'm coming back to Provo sooner than I thought. I'll drive up this Saturday. Yay!!! Although I have a lot to do--including finding an apartment and a job--so my vacation time is pretty much over now.

Anyone have any good job leads?  ???

I preferred Beauty to Rose Daughter, as well. Rose Daughter has some improvements plot-wise, but in general, Beauty is tighter, better written, less flowery. Rose Daughter is more than twice as long, and I still don't get why she named the sister in Rose Daughter "Greatheart"--which was the name of the horse in Beauty. Weird.

I'm happy because I've finally finished reading what I have of Blacker Darkness. I just realized--at p. 222--that I don't have it all! Augh! That part goes in the grumpy things, really. Fell! You're leaving me hanging here!

I just drove through Redwoods National Park, and I'm in the middle of Northern California's Redwood Forest, in a 30-year old camper.  I have heat and air conditioning, electricity, plumbing, and, best of all, wireless internet access.  I'm surrounded by trees and I have wireless internet!

This makes me very happy.  To make things better, we've got a cell phone with free roaming that gets a connection here, too.

My roommate had a birthday party tonight. I baked an apple pie and bought ice cream for everyone that came. We had a fun night. Played Scattergories. And played Cronology (a game that I find myself not liking because I'm no good with dates and years stuffs).

You baked an apple pie? Wow, Gemm--your "attractiveness to girls" points just shot through the roof!!!  ;)

After two hours of timewasting I finally tracked down a post (and then another) made by my temporarily long-distance stalkee who, in turn, will never find me here...

Wow. Those were really quick responses. You guys, like, live here. And I bet you're also telepathic and spineless.

Telepathic, yes. Spineless, no.

So are you the douoche JadeKnight was talking about? (I still don't know what a douoche is. I tried to look it up on Merriam-Websters, and it gave me a definition of douche (spelled differently, without the extra o) that was really funny but I don't think applies: "a jet or current especially of water directed against a part or into a cavity of the body.")
???

Is it a French word? Or Canadian slang?

I am back in Provo! And I got to hang out with MY douoche last night--for over four hours!!! It was great.  ;D

We had present exchange (as all good boyfriends and girlfriends should after a long trip). Of course we got each other books--we wouldn't be geeks if we didn't. For a gag gift, I also got him a really cool Hotmobiles miniature of the Batmobile (nod to Archon) and Mr. Freeze, which is the name of EUOL's current car (nod to Mr. Freeze, who is dead). Yup, Mr. Freeze died on Friday, and now EUOL is car-less. So I had to get him the miniatures so I could show up and say, "I solved all your problems. Look, I bought you a car!"

Besides a bunch of cool YA and MG books EUOL picked up for me at Tor, he got me two t-shirts. One is white and says "I [heart] NY" in rhinestones. Yay! I love shiny things. And the other is so funny--it is black and has this pink bunny in a straightjacket on it and says "cute but physcho" underneath.

He knows me too well.

Oh, and he says that the shirt will deter any other guys from asking me out. All part of his evil master plan!  :)

I'm happy because I have 6 more days of work and then I'm moving in somewhere with central air.
