WWII Music and Sounctracks

Ok, so everyone's got Glen Miller stashed away somewhere, but do you have any other WWII goodies around (Soundtracks do count)

I recomend the Swing Kids soundtrack.

But there are a lot of classic WWII movie and TV sountracks if you can find them, from Hogans Heroes to Patton.

One of the Best serious sountracks I have is Victory at Sea made for the movie/mini series.

For the Boys is a great soundtrack. It's Bette Midler at her best--revamped classics from the 40s to the 60s, which is the time period the movie covers. None of that late-80s syrup, either. It's a fun soundtrack.

The Andrews Sisters were good, too, but I like Bette Midler's souped-up versions on another cd, such as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from Company B" on her Experience the Divine album.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe it should go under the shameful listening thread. I meant that in the best way possible, knowing it would meet resistance. I'm not even that much of a Bette Midler fan, but she does great jazzy things with Andrews Sisters tunes. I don't really go for the cheesy stuff, though.

Did you ever watch Bette Midler's sitcom in the short space before it got cancelled? That was freaking hilarious. Midler has a tendency toward schmaltz and melodrama, but when she's in the zone she's pretty dang talented.

Hmmm, didn't even know she had one. I think when she's got the right material (singing or acting), you're right--she hits it right on. I can't think of any particular role right now--maybe First Wives Club, though that was rather an annoying movie over all. Beaches just depressed me.  She's going to be in The Stepford Wives.
