Musical Sparks

This is going to be like the Word Watch thread a few fields up. Instead of just one word though, we'll use, at most, 2 lines from a song. I'll start.

I've been leaving on my things
so in the morning when the morning birds sing
“NOTHING IS TRUE. EVERYTHING IS PERMITTED.”
                William S. Burroughs

“Who needs girls when you’ve got comics?”
                Grant Morrison’s Flex Mentallo

I'm gonna fly like an eagle to the sea,
Fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me.
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

We fell in love, in the key of C
We walked along, down by the sea

Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring at myself
Reflected in the eyes
Of the dead man on the beach
The dead man on the beach

Back at home, a young wife waits.
Her Green Beret has met his fate.
He has died for those oppressed,
leaving her this last request:
Put silver wings on my son's chest
Make him one of America's best.
He'll be a man they test one day,
the brave men of the Green Beret.

I was thinking about dead people on beaches.
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

The devil went down to Georgia
he was lookin' for a soul to steal.

Later in the song it uses the colorful phrase Gemm inspired us with.
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

Fire on the mountain run boys run
Devil's in the house of the rising sun
Chicken in the breadpan pickin' out dough

Sorry, I know that's three, but it's incomplete without chicken in the breadpan, and weird if I cut out the middle line.

Down in the west Texas town of El Paso,
I fell in love with a Mexican girl.
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

Just how far down do you want to go?
We can talk it out over a cup of joe,
and you can look deep into my eyes like I was a supermodel.

It's from "Banditos," a song about crossing the Mexican border to commit a robbery, in case you were wondering how I made that jump

Look at me, I can write a melody
But I can't expect a soul to care

From "Sucked Out" a song that I forever associate with "Banditos" as they were one-hit wonders released at the same time that were played to death
