Ok, so none of those are really "statement" sci fis, but they are all pretty good none-the-less.

A good "statement" one is The Forge of God - Greg Bear. All about the last days of earth, it features a lot of slightly wierd but interesting mother nature/Gaia exploration, and has a pretty interesting story. Recommended.
