« on: November 10, 2004, 07:30:16 AM »
Ok, time for a new thread.

My article is in, I did notice JP's review in the RPG section too waiting to be linked.

And to carry over conversations from the old thread.

MR. P wants to do a bi-monthly article and Outcast is offereing to reveiw something.

ok, to clarify, Fell and I discuss something like columns. sometimes in public. Basically, Mr. P, you write good stuff. What's your column about? How often are you promising? and can you get them in a day early, preferably, for a Mon, Tues, or Wed.

Outkast, use this link to submit a review. There's limited free stuff available, and it usually gets given to someone who has already arranged for shipping or who lives in the neighborhood so there are no shipping costs. Which means, living in Australia, you've got a short end of the stick, but there's not really a way around it. But review anything you play. Give us a gaming report. etc. We do want your material.

I think Entropy should do a column that's titled "Entropy".  Have the first one be a very well written coherent article then have each successor get more and more random and chaotic till it gets to the point where there are no discernable words.

So Entropy writes the first one, and I write the last one?

I think Gemm should do a column called "Gemm". It should start out and finish in a way that looks clever and postmodern and selfaware, but is actually just a collection of random made up words.

I still like the idea for "MY Word Of The Week." I'm all up for it. Just need some "higher-ups" to "approve" it. "Hah"

Thank you very much, Fell and SE.  I'll do that.

and the question of the week is... do I get  EUOLogy this week? Or do I run a movie review today?

So how many people are actualy planning on doing columns or take a day?

I know Gemm wants to do his word of the week thing, but I don't think there's a way to do that with out codeing something new (though it could just be a blurb that's on the main page), JP has been thinking of doing one and so has Mr. P.  What about MR. P and JP alternateing between weeks for their articles and just chooseing the same day?

I'd kinda like to know a main theme for a column. Not just a title for it. But once I have those, alternating weekly columns would be good. Like, for Tuesday. Tuesday would be best, I think, for me. it means that I've had a day to look at what i need to fill out the week, but if I had to push something back from Friday it has one less day to wait.

as for the word of the day... We could just do that on the forum and link to it with a blurb. I mean, he could just monitor the forum and post on the "word of the week/day/span of time thread" when someone types the word.

ya, I know what you want SE, that's why I posted since I was trying to respark the conversation.

The forum post is a good idea.  Maybe we can have Gemm write up how he wants to handle it and we can then go from there.

/me cracks the whip. Get to work Gemm!

incidentally, I'm in favor of columns. But if we're going to do a column instead of just a weekly assignment, it needs more than a title. I like columns cuz they give us material.

So, how do you want me to do this? As soon as I get up, post a word for the week? E-mail someone the word with definition? Who's got some answers?

Saint,  I just submitted an article for my column, if you choose to accept it.

The column's name is "The Nerdery" and it will focus on the gaming lifestyle.  Sometimes it will be about how to improve games, other times it will be talking about some of the recent releases and hubub in teh games industry.  Occasionally, it will be about videa games.

I actually think I can pull it off on a weekly basis too.  Let me know if you think this is a good idea.
