Jam applies his different approach technique to an SF classic.

While the Deus Ex ending is, well, a bit deus ex, I don't know that I'd call it inconsistant.

Anyway, at the time, Wells was just sf, now I think of him more as steam punk. (not true steam punk, but similar in feel). Retro SF is, in my opinion, worth making the leap of faith to read, like Fantasy or pulp.

Having never read the book, when I went into the theatre to watch this one, I was expecting to see an action film ("war" of the worlds), and was slightly surprised that it was horror.

I enjoy reading HG Wells about as much as I enjoy reading Herman Melville.  Which is to say, not very much.  Unfortunately both are too famous for me to have been asked to read them at some point.
