Course, isn't part of having a following just doing some really good marketing and getting people excited abouut your work?

I think the marketing could be done. I believe that Drive Thru RPG and othe online book services show that people are willing to buy an electronic copy of a book, even though print ones are available and pirated electronic copies are available.


I also believe that you can pick up readers before you've built up a print following. Web comic artists are making money who were unknown before they went out and marketed themselves.

I think it would be a seriously hard job, but I think it could be done.

Yeah.  It could be any sort of following, print or otherwise.  And, of course, it all comes down to turning out a quality product.

You realize Spriggan is the title of an anime movie and manga series, right?

Though I don't know how this book got its name...

A spriggan is a sprite in the fae realm, which might be where the manga got it from. Sprig has told me about the manga in the past, when I found a story in a fairy tale collection about spriggans that he knew about it. Let's see... it'll be tough, but I might be able to find that link.

Spriggans sometimes protect valuable treasures in the fae realm.

In the comics, where my nickname comes from, Spriggans were a group of people that protected artifacts (usually magical) from governments and anyone in general who would misuse them.

There's a Spriggan for each country, the main guy, Yu, is Spriggan Japan and USA.  He's basically a Samsonite, I guess, he's got a magical Hebrew item that grants him strength and endurance.  The #2 character is Jean, Spriggan France, who's a Werewolf.  There are others like Spriggan England who's an illusionist.
