Gigli

Well, this movie has the unenviable position of being tied with Battlefield Earth on the tomatometer average.  4%.  The only major movie we could think of that had lower was Master of Disguise, with its whopping 1%.

I'm sorry, but as godawful as Master of Disguise was, Gigli beat it in terms of sheer suckitude hands down.

My current favorite review of Gigli.

The Washington Post ran a story the other day about how this movie was the prime example of how a studio, no matter HOW GOD-AWFUL THEIR MOVIE WAS would be able to find at least 2 critics with nice things to say they could put on their movie posters.

It had lots of other funny things too, like how Sony had actually invented a critic (and got caught because the morons had claimed he was from an extant publication and got sued) to say nice things about their movies.

Also, advertising for Gigli has been reduced to almost nil.

Oh, I don't know about that last statement.  I went to see Seabiscit tonight--arguably one of the best movies of the year--and was very amused to see a preview of Gigli--arguably the worst movie of the year--before it.  It was a very ironic moment.  (Granted, I think preview exchange deals happen way ahead of time, and this probably wasn't the type of thing one can just pull.)

Sony announced that they were removing all their newspaper advertising for the film and had asked TV stations to substitute ads for other movies. THat leaves only the movie trailers and perhaps some radio spots. THat's not much advertising.
