Big "freaking" Fish
« on: January 11, 2004, 02:31:53 PM »
Wow, I saw this movie yesterday and all I have to say is wow. Tim Burton is a damn near genius. The story, characters, plot, everything about this movie is excellent. Everything about it is just so touching. Every character is somehow either fun or just so touching. And the one person's wife is french, and cute. So I guess I won't be so hard on the french as much.

But overall, great film. Everyone should see it. And I mean everyone. That includes Entropy, 42, Tage, Fell, SE, Brenna, MoD, etc, etc, Jeffe, and so on.

From the first time I saw the trailer for this, I wanted to see it.  Looks amazing.  I was annoyed it went into limited release for so long before coming out here.  Haven't see it yet, though--will have to go next week.

Eh. I'm not gonna watch a movie without comedy, gunfire, or all of the above.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

What about strangeness?  This is, after all, Tim Burton we're talking about.  The movie is bound to be a little bit abnormal.

If you haven't seen the Nightmare Before Christmas, you should run out and rent it.

And Sprig, you forgot the paramount Tim Burton film: Beetlejuice.  A true classic.

And, of course, there's always Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.  He also did Mars Attacks, but that one's a little less popular.

Hmm. I love sleepy hollow, the batman movies were trash, planet of the apes was average. I saw beetlejuice when i was 10 or something, been wanting to watch it again ever since.

I can't believe *anyone* can rate PotA average when he calls the original Batman "trash." I mean, yeah, it's not hte greatest, but Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton both did pretty incredible jobs. And Burton didn't screw it up that bad. THere's a couple things I didn't like, but over all it was pretty solid.

I really liked the original Batman--and I think Burton added a lot to the feel of the movie.  PotA is, in my opinion, his weakest movie.

yeah, come to think of it. It's Batman Returns that I have my qualms with. And really, I don't have that many for that. It's when you get to the third one (that I don't believe Burton worked on) that they started really doing lame things like gang fights in dayglow paint.
