Episode II
« on: March 01, 2004, 10:43:27 PM »
Yeah, coming back to these after a long while, I'm less excited about them. Even though the final part of EpII was pretty darn cool, imo. The one liners (with one of 3PO's) are still great. He just can't do drama very well.

Though watching it I'm realizing my Clone Trooper action figure holds his big ol' rifle (capable of penetrating the Destroyer droid force fields) wrong.

oh, and the Yoda lightsaber fight? Still cool.

was it Fuzzy who said it'd be cool to see Dobby, Yoda, and Gollum have a scene together? Because I think that she's right. That'd rule.

If it was me who said it, I was quoting someone else.   I think I wanted to see Dumbledore and Yoda battle it out, but eh, I'm not picky.

sorry to have assigned to you more creativity than you had.

The usual match up is Yoda v. Gandalf. Throwing Dumbledore in and making it a battle royale would be cool. We could put these two scenes into the same film about the extradimensional adventures of Yoda.

Last time i watched Ep 2, i couldnt stand the last battle. It all looks so plasticy. Fake. Everything is spotless and exactly identical. Like a computer game. And C3P0's one liners were just terribly out of place.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

I think I remember Lucas saying he wanted that "perfect" look to contrast the difference between pre-Empire and Empire eras.

In Episode I, all of the ships and such do look a lot different from the original 3, and in Episode II you can see how the look is starting to blend together which is pretty cool.

That plastic look you talk about, one obvious part of it is all the cgi.  Also, the original three were super low-budget compared to the new ones, and so you lose some of that cheap, gritty realism that usually finds its way into low-budget flicks.  And with them both at opposite ends, it makes it contrast more.  I'm guessing Episode III will blend into the original trilogy the best and make it seem much more like the old Star Wars than the last two.

actualy I saw something on TLC that I found surpriseing.  IN Episode 2 the battle scenes weren't all CG.  There were lots of models used in them as well.
