Aeon Flux
« on: December 02, 2005, 10:32:40 AM »
I think I'm passing on this one.

The reviews are not good so far. Not to mention that the distributor didn't hold any screenings for critics, which is a big sign that they wanted to get the movie out before it got panned by the critics.

This also continues the trend that a once a pretty, young actress wins an oscar, she is obligated to make one completely awful action/superhero film where she wears a tight leather/spandex outfit.

The MTV cartoon, from what little I could stomach, is rather crap as well.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

I have to agree, it just seems like a  overly cliched generic action/spy/superhero thing with a plot that has been used so many times it's sad.

Yeah, zero interest here. My brother loved it, but he's a little crazy

Actually, what would be great is if Theron got nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for her role in North Country and also got nominated for the Worst Actress Razzie for Aeon Flux. Even better if she won both.

Halle Berry actually did that--won the Oscar one year and the Razzie the next. I think the Razzie was for Catwoman.

Yes, but no one has won both in the same year.

It was very cool that Halle Berry showed up to accept her Razzie and even gave a fake acceptance speech.

It would be really cool if Theron won both in the same year and then said something classy like "Look! A matching pair..." or something like that.

I don't think it will happen. Theron will likely loose the Oscar to Judi Dench, Felicity Huffman or Reese Witherspoon.

Well, Theron did get a nomination for a Golden Globe, that's a start.

She might win if the voters decide to be more conservative this year.

Dench only has one Oscar. And Huffman and Withserpoon have none. My prediction is Witherspoon, since "Walk the Line" has some momentum and Joaquin Phoenix isn't going to win (I think Phillip Seymour Hoffman or Heath Ledger will). but Theron will almost certainly be moninated. She's just not going to win.

Not happy with the Gloden Globe nominations, witha few exceptions like the surpsirse comeback of Rusell Crowe and Paul Giamatti for "Cinderella Man". But their Best Picture nominations (aside from "Good Night, and Good Luck" ) disappoint me.
