i liked the article also.  I am in the same boat as you are.  i like to read the comics I bought and use the stuff i collect.
everything was going fine, until i critically failed my intelligence check!

The first thing I did with my Episode 1 figs was tear open the box and set them up with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon fighting Darth Maul. Of course, part of that thought process was that so many people were buying them that they wouldn't be valuable until long after my death, so it's probably not the same thing.

On second thought, I don't have anything useful to contribute to the conversation.

No, wait, I do! I have a first printing copy of Dune that I pull out and read occasionally. So yeah, I agree that stuff is there to be used, and if it's just sitting in a vault where no one can enjoy it, it's pointless to have.
