The Return of Staff Picks
« on: November 29, 2005, 11:59:59 AM »
I'm not good about doing them regularly, but I have an idea for a staff picks column

3 favorite holiday albums. 2 or 3 picks, 2 or three sentences of description each.

email me at [email protected] with your stuff, and I'll put it up in a week or two. Or something.

Like, favourite holiday songs, or what?

like, albums to just plug in and listen to.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for. We're doing the same thing as that article, but we're limiting the choice of albums to only those consisting of primarily holiday music.

I don't know that I own 3 holiday albums.

I've got a Loreena McKennitt one, a MoTab one, and maybe some cheesy New Age ones (given to me) that I don't listen to.

And my tapes are at home, Alack.  When are you thinking of putting this up?

You don't have to own them, just like them.

on a friday some time before Christmas
I'm having a hard time narrowing it down

I know John Denver and the Muppets are on it
but for 2 and 3 I've got four albums I'm tossing around: Jimmy Buffet's Christmas Island, a Mason Williams album, Harry Connick, Jr.,  and Ella Fitzgerald Wishes You a Swinging Christmas. No where is the diversity of my tastes in music more evident than in my holiday music.

Loreena McKennitt's Christmas album is definitely my favourite.  Unfortunately, I don't know too many others.

Maybe I should get out the MoTab album and decide I like it...

BNL's holiday album. Everything from the sweet and serious, to a giggle-worthy version of "Happy Birthday" sung to Jesus.

Oh, my gosh, I love that album! It's a holiday tradition in my family to play it and it brings me back to being a kid every time I listen to it. Yea for Christmas and traditions!
