Customer service L3 at Wizards: http://www.wizards.com/jobs/welcome.htm

Also, it's not on the site yet, but they just announced that we're looking for a Concept Illustrator to mainly work with Magic. If you're interested, let me know and I can email you the job description/requirements.

It's on the intranet at work, so remind me Monday and I'll send it on. Oh, and it's mainly for Magic, so it sounds like it's right up his alley.

Edit: duh. I already said that, didn't I?

It is time for me to rant about how much I hate searching for a job. I've been networking and sending out resumes to everyone. I've been doing one interview after another. I'm constantly trying to impress strangers in hopes that they might hire me. I religiously check for job postings and always am keeping an ear out for any leads. I've been doing this for months and months and it is almost a year now. So far, I have a bunch of sympathetic rejection letters.

I am sick of job hunting. It has to be one of the most humiliating and degrading thing that a person can do. I'm sick of having to market and sell myself, trying to pretend that I have only minor faults.

I am even more sick of well meaning people trying to give me advice of how to find a job or giving me alternatives, which only helps me feel more like an unemployed loser. However, I really get irrate over those who imply that I should just give up and find a new career. I will not give up on my job hunting, no matter the obsticals or frustrations.

I feel for you and I feel doubly for your wife.  No way in heck I'm leaving the job I'm in now until I have another one lined up and signed on.  No matter how much I hate my  coworkers sometimes its' better than job hunting for a year. Ick.

My friend graduated from law school last year in Boston and moved to DC, and she's had the same difficulty. The closest she's got is law temping, doing document review. Boring work, but steady and fairly well paying, as far as paying the bills. Is there a similar kind of law temp agency near you?

I did that once, never again.  I worked two jobs for a month when I got my new job in April because I wasn't willing to quit until I was sure I had a new job I liked.

My company, Unicity, is looking for a full time Graphic Designer:

Darn. I've got lots of those qualifications, but not the 3-4 years of experience, unless you count mucking around on my own computer and my personal design projects. Fooey to my BFA in art!

Yea, blue you should apply, you never know what could happen or who else has applied.

I applied even though I haven't worked in graphic design in a couple of years, I haven't a current portfolio, probably can't take the job if it has to be full time, and I have little intention of being a designer for the rest of my life. Still, I don't know what could happen. Mostly I'm hoping that they might decide to add other postions later and it work in my favor if they've already heard of me.

Course, if you are looking for introductory design work. Volunteering where they could use a designer helps a lot. It also looks amazing on a resume, since so few people bother to volunteer their time and talents now-a-days.

If your not into volunteering or just need a job, places like the Phone Directory Co. in Orem are almost always looking for entry-level designers.

PDC. Ah, the... memories! I worked as a proofer last summer. Not designing the actual ads, but dealing with cranky, nutty customers. The designers work away downstairs while we run interference with the customers. Hmm, I wonder if PDC ever went "live" with Oracle. What a fiasco. I doubt it.

Anyhow, even if there aren't any designer positions open, you could try for a Proofer job. Stay away from Cust Serv though. *shudder* Proofer pays pretty good for UT, imo. And it looks good on a resume. I mean, I would help make design decisions, not just take changes.

If she lives in Utah I'd say go for it, but if not I don't think they'd really consider an out of state applicant.

Whoa. Another PDC person. I worked there 97-99. Final edit with Sharlene Davis. PDC is why Jeff and I came to be friends--we bonded over it my first night of TLE.

LOL. How funny. Jeffe too. Cool. I remember Sharlene, of course. There were three Sarahs working there, which always made for fun confusion.

But what I enjoyed most of all were, of course, the proofing mistakes that evaded correction. Like, on this dermatologist office ad, a bullet announced that the dr. Treats Pigheads. Niiice. He wasn't too thrilled about that little error. Or the Truck Dealership that offered "Trull Repair" in big blue letters. hehe
