or y'know, you could just have fun dancing, without following a style. Maybe it's your excessive demands that make you annoyed.

Oh please. I don't have "excessive demands." I just happen to be a dancer who enjoys actually dancing.

I guess what frustrates me about that is that I *can't* dance. Yet I used to enjoy dancing. Formalizing it ruined it for me. As well as people thinking I wasn't worth the time because I don't fit their mold of dancing.

Hey, I enjoy just getting out and bopping around as much as the next person. It's not that. It's just that I also get bored with the move-around-in-a-circle mode of dancing. There's just so much more that you can do. And it's all about having fun. So I'm saying *add* the partner dancing and all that.

It's the old soul in me, I suppose. There were plenty of people in our parents' and grandparents' generations who just learned how to dance to a rhythm as a matter of course. I don't think formalizing it should ruin it anymore than literary criticism should ruin reading.

I don't think that the literary criticism to formalized dancing is a valid comparison.

the "circle" dancing is to allow social interaction. I can't talk to you if I'm spinning you around.

I dunno about that. Mal and Inara didn't have any trouble conversing whilst they danced at that fancy shindig.

That's because they were following what we in the business like to refer to as a "script"

I'm going to have to agree with E on this one; its a lot harder to to talk to your partner when your not circle dancing.

I guess men simply have a harder time multi-tasking.

And women have a harder time compartmentalizing.  ;)

Heh.

I must say, no matter how confusing guys can be, they're very nice, too. But I won't tell you which one in particular. :)
