Puking into a leaky barf bag on the airplane. Embarassing AND vile. Not a happy combination.

How nasty! Poor Nessa. :(

(I just got your email too, by the way.) We should definitely get together. So I'll give you a call or an email. Hope you are feeling much better!

40% of the company was laid off today, including me.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

WHA--??  :o

Oh, Ookla, that's crappy. No warning signs at all?

My friend in the college division at Houghton barely survived the "culling" done by their new owner, Cengage. Over half the people she worked with were fired, and some who have been in the company for 20+ years are now having to "interview" for their jobs. :( BUT they knew in advance that their jobs might be forfeit, what w/ the corporate buy out.

Sorry to hear you got laid off, Ookla.

That's sucks. I hope you find something soon.

I wish youwere in Utah cause I could give you all the secrets to getting unemployment and other types of government assistance.

It is my birthday, I am officially closer to 40 than 30, and not only did I have to work, but there is no after-work party with the family, or anyone else planned. My birthday has become just another day of the week.

Ookla, I hope you find something soon. I will send good thoughts and prayers your way.

The possibility was looming there in the background, but the timing and extent of the cuts were still a big shock. Still, I've been making the first steps toward finding another job already the past two months, and now everything that was holding me back (the series I loved working on, the people I loved working with) is no longer a factor. I feel rather free. It's refreshing.

But still scary. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Oh, Ookla, I am so sorry!  Good luck finding a new job.
If I had any clue, would I be here?

Woke up early to lift some weights with a friend.  Puked my guts out.  Then had to go to the dentist.  Still numb.  Ugh.

And still no part for my car door.  Dumb, dumb...

Edit:  spelling error.

Um... That is completely uncool. I think that for most people here, that would be much worse than waking up to find your phone no longer works. Does he not understand that the internet is an essential line of communication and community support? It is unhealthy to be cut off socially.

My husband left for scout camp yesterday. My little boys are already wondering when dad will get home. I am not meant to be a single mother.
If I had any clue, would I be here?

so uncool. ;) but I think I'll have to survive with it for a while since we are moving in August. Sigyn... I feel your pain, I hope it goes by quickly and you actually manage to sleep a little.

3 ER visits in 1 week. And I don't even have children.
