New Topics?
« on: November 07, 2002, 03:07:22 PM »
I see plenty of places to post about books or games or movies, etc.  But there appear to be quite a few interesting topics with no home anywhere on the boards.  What about:

Sports?
Music?
Television?
Babes/Hunks?
Politics?

Those are just a few off the top of my head that I never see a place to post for.

Well, this *is* a game review site. And we're all nerds. Fellfrosch's brother keeps trying to start sports topics, but they never go anywhere.

Some of the others might take, though. Give 'em a try!

True.  The only sports topic that lasted longer than two posts was something Charlie brought up about the difference between american football and the rest of the world's football.  And that wasn't really a sports topic at all - more of a colliding cultures thing.

You're all a bunch of nerds.

By the way Tage, when did I stop being Mustard and become 'Fellfrosh's brother?'

Well, I could call you "that red-headed stepchild". Even though you're not a stepchild. Or at least, that's what you think...

actually that topic was more about me being a pillock and asking stupid questions than anything else. still, we had fun critising yankish football players (with ismirs immortal phrase "football players are stupid" being the highlight) before mustardio turned up and spoiled the party.

Never mind American football.  Give me a good game of rugby or ice hockey any day.

You know, I'm American, and I like "normal" football (soccer) much more than American football. I mean, really, Am. football is just so SLOW.

Hey, American footie is ok, but the athletes just don't have the skill, attitude and conditioning of actual football (soccor) or rugby.  I can pretty much enjoy just about any sport.  Just don't bring up golf.  Golf isn't a sport.  If you don't sweat, it isn't a sport.

Gold and baseball are actually both classified as games, not sports, officially.

Rugby is okay to watch, but I just can't do soccer.  Waaaaaay to slow paced for me.

I would have to argue about the conditioning and skill of American Football players.  Speaking as someone who played the game extensively in high school (I was captain of the team), it takes a great deal of both.

I do agree that most NFL players don't have the best attitude, but at least they're not as bad as pro baseball or basketball players.

Soccer too slow?  Depends on the team and how much lagar everybody is drinking before the game.

;D

My favorite sports (to compete in, at least) have always been the one-on-one variety such as fencing and martial arts.  I also enjoy archery and a good round of snooker, but I would be hard pressed to call either of them a sport.
