LOTR game playing
« on: March 22, 2004, 08:10:05 PM »
So, i bought, largely at random, 2 ROTK armies. 1 good, 1 evil. Next monday it would appear that we will have 3000 points of stuff on the table, with 4 players. God knows who will use what. But, hey, thats 700pts per person. I'll be taking my gondorians (24 infantry, 10 knights, faramir on horse, knight with banner and a captain and banner on foot) and my mordor army (24 orcs, 12 easterlings, easterling captain and banner, ringwraith on fellbeast). John will probably bring his fellbeast as well, and tim is threatening to bring his Balrog as his entire army.

It'll be fun :D

Sounds cool. Write a battle report.

Ok, first, someone get a doctor in here - that tense is badly wounded. It's past, not present, tense you want.

And secondly, it was a draw.

All right, guys.  Time to back off on the newcomer a bit.  Yes, the 'make a second account' trick was a little silly, but you didn't need to slap him down as hard as you did.  Perhaps he thought that his 'Masterchief' account was irrevocably tarnished, and wanted to start up a new one to try and start over.

Either way, whoever deleted his second account, I'm tempted to think you acted hastily.  I know we're not the most newcomer friendly sight around, but I don't think we should make a policy of deleting accounts except in extreme cases.

He was responding to his own posts, EUOL. There wasn't anything like trying to start over. I'll take responsibility for that. I asked JP to do it. And I only asked for one, so he could continue to post.

on top of that, when I explained about no punctuation, AGAIN, he went back and edited his previous post to add a single comma to look 'innocent'
Because, y'know, there's no time stamp on them.

ARGH. No. I think the right thing was done.

I read his attempt at punctuation.  I know a lot of people my age who have troubles with punctuation, and his sentence read just like one that Morag had written--and he would look at a sentence like that and honestly think he'd used proper punctuation.

You deleted the second account before determining, with certainty, that it really wasn't a second person posting from a similar location.  Calling him on the fact that we thought those two were the same would have been embarrassing enough.  Deleting one of the accounts as quickly as you did was, in my opinion, hasty.

Most of the posts I read by him were apologetic and made attempts at doing what you told him.  I didn't see any hostility, just an inability to quite grasp what people were telling him.

Perhaps it was all a sham.  And, again, you were perfectly within your rights and authority to do what you did.  I maintain, however, that it was an overly-harsh reaction.
