WotC loses Pokemon
« on: March 18, 2003, 02:33:20 PM »
The unspoken subtext of this article is that Pokemon wasn't doing them any good, so they made a low offer and didn't argue when it wasn't accepted. This will certainly be a financial hit for WotC, but it offers them the chance to free up some people and resources to fill in with a better game.

Interesting, though, that the press release mentions all their other CCGs except for Harry Potter.

Strange. Isn't Harry Potter their second-most popular CCG?

I'm surprised about the Pokemon but since it's dead in Japan as well there's no real reason for them to make it.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

Chuck Norris is the reason Waldo is hiding.

Based on a few things I've heard, I'm pretty sure that WotC has a very restrictive marketing policy with Warner Bros. regarding Harry Potter. That may be the reason it wasn't mentioned, but it's not a very good one. It is, as Tage said, they're second best-selling game right now.
