Civ III
« on: December 07, 2003, 03:21:14 AM »
Well, I broke down and got the gold edition a while back and I've been playing it as if my life depended on it.   I was a god-king of Civ II, but my strategies don't seem to work as well here and I can't figure out just why.  I can't seem to wage a successful war without it taking upward of 1000 years.  Guess I've just got to get my head around the changes.

Any of you have any tips.  I'd particularly love to hear how people start the game.  For some reason I think I lose a lot of pace there.

Cheers!

Try Galactic Civilisations. I got it, its fantastic. Civ in space, but it all makes sense! And the aliens AI is very very strong.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Two of the most important attributes are Military and religion(Aztecs and Japanese have both). So choose a tribe beased upon key attributes. This will pay off later in the shape of tribe bonuses. If you have a capital in plains building irrigation should be a priority while on a grassland, the first order of business should be to build a mine. Don't try to save a lot of gold in the beginning. Build the basic structures. Research science quickly up to iron working or bronze working.  Build a scout in the meantime. Send him to explore the map. Build another and fortify it in the city. Try to keep your expansionist agenda on hold until u reach middle ages. When you reach the middle ages build knights-lot's of them and expand as much as you can.
PS:- I would've written more but I have really delicate fingers. So why don't you chack out http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/civilization_iii_c.txt

Mr. Pleasington, you'd better finish Civ 3 quickly because a sequel is in the offing. Details at:
