Finally a Space Sim
« on: December 11, 2003, 12:58:19 AM »
Yay jay- Finally a space sim for PC after such a long time. EGOSOFT is developing a space sim in which you fly around in Massive space ships either trading with other factions or fighting it out. I downloaded a non-playable demo of the game and found the graphics to be really delicious(drool X 1000). I just hope that these guys don't mess it up because Egosoft is the same comapny that had developed a similar space sim around three years ago. The game totally bombed off the shelf and got really lousy reviews from everyone. I had played it and found that it's biggest sore point was that it went overboard with the flying around in the space thing. Distances between key trading posts were excruciatingly long and the trading aspect of the game(which by the way was it's key aspect) wasn't properly fleshed out. The present title will hopefully take care of these grouches. From the demo that I have seen, I can honestly say that this game will have some of the biggest space objects in any space sim developed so far. You can take a look at the screen shots here:

You mean X : beyond the frontier? What are you talking about? I thought that got good reviews and sold well here. It did so well they are planning a MMORPG version i think.

And those screenshots are ugly beyond belief.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

I don't think they're that ugly, Entropy. I think some of them are very good. I think you just have an axe to grind.

Ya the screen shots are decent, but not the best that's out right now.  And X: Beyond the frontier got decent reviews Statesidegamerankings has it at a little over 60%.  Never played it thought so I'm haveing to rely on other's opinions.  Also according to gamespot X2 is allready in stores in the US, austraila and Brittan.  It's also dosen't have any multyplayer modes.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

Well, I'm happy to see that I'm being slandered on sites not affiliated with TWG.  Spread the love.

Heh, oh the irony. I would write them something asking where that name came from. Because I know you not to be so superficial Homsar.

Your goal should be to be slandered on as many sites as possible.

That is an awesome goal. If only I had that sort of initiative.

I think we should have a special Slander House of Mustard Day. Like once a week or something. It wouldn't actually change the way I refer to him, but it would make it official.

Maybe we could do it like Ninja Day, and all write slanderous articles for the front page.

Gamespot called X : beyond the frontier "Truckker in space". Their reviewers found it quite boring. The fact that a MMORPG is being made based on the single player version doesn't prove anything. I think they'll iron out the problems that reviewers found with their game before launching it. Games like Starsky and Hutch sell really well, but that doesn't mean that they are any good.
As far as those screenshots are concerned I'd just like to say that we mortals do not have an extra large plasma screen displays at home. So these are as good as you are going to get 'em from most of the websites.

We got too many special days already. I read about a spelling day somewhere on this site the other day.
