A scam?

My question is, how can they even claim it to be legal?  Are they going with the 'members buy in, so they're part of a club that shares' loophole (which is what the edited video clubs did to get around copyright?)  Anyway, seems highly suspect to me.  Just curious what those of you who know more about this sort of thing have to add.

I heard a 12-year-old girl was prosecuted with the first round of Kazaa suits, and she used Kazaa Lite. She assumed it was legal because she paid for membership. I don't know if there's any difference between Kazaa Lite and Kazaa Lite-legal, but the girl did get a hefty fine, despite thinking it was legal.

I think they were fining her parents on behalf of her. I don't remember exactly the amount, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of several thousand dollars.
