Pet Names
« on: May 18, 2004, 08:50:52 PM »
So my 3-year-old niece told me the other day that she wants a guinea pig and she wants to name that guinea pig "Couch." How can you say no to that?

So what make good pet names for animals, rocks, cars or Spriggan?

I wouldn't suggest naming anything Roadkill.  It's just WILLING something to happen...

I had a mission companion who had a dachshund at home named "Demieu" as in "Demieu! Get off that couch!"

I really want to get a snake and call it 'HorseHam' after an insane IRC using Icelandic nutter I know. Spends all his time playing DAoC - he has two level 50 characters.

See I also like to give my pets historical names. There just something empowering about having Julius Ceaser as your pet hamster.

I just posted this under the 'Bacon" topic.  I need sleep.

One of my friends had cats named Hemmingway and Michaelangelo (Mike for short).  Then they got a dog and named him Galileo.

My father-in-law had a cat named Dammit! when he was in college...then he took it home to his parents' house, and the name changed to Dawg (he couldn't see his mother standing on the porch saying "Here Dammit!)

I used to have a dog named Hillbilly (I was five, and I named it after my "Hillbilly hat."
We also had a Wuppy (the puppy)
and my cousins were the proud owners of Maybe (as in Maybe we'll keep her, maybe we won't)
During my senior year of college, my roommates and I had a red and blue beta fish that we named Dr. Suess (red fish, blue fish...)

I also really want to name a hedgehog Pinpiggy.

I don't really want an octopus, but if I had it, I would name it Cthulhu.

I had a friend who once owned a rabbit named Veto. It got that name because it was his mom's response to all of his other suggestions for names.

Thinking of the naming pets after authors.

Someday, EUOL will be a reknown author with great fame and power, and I will name a hamster after him.

If you do, that had be one devilishly handsome hamster!

Anyway, my pets have some pretty standard names.  My bird, who many of you know, is named Beaker.  As for my fish, all of the koi have been named 'Stupid' in a different language.  The Oscars generally get named after dark gods.

I definitely see Sprig having a pet Giant Panda. He kind of resembles one, which gives credence to the theory that people get pet they resemble.
