I like 2. 2 could pull the chicks. if, y'know, you wanted to pull chicks.

The smiling one looks rather ridiculous.  If I saw a book with that photo on the back, I'd buy it so I could bring it home to show my friend, and then laugh at it and claim "He looks like an idiot!".

You look like a smurf in #3.
As for the rest... #1 or #5. The #5 squint is a bit awkward.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

I think we now know what our next Poll will be.

Frankly they all look odd to me since you're without your glasses, but #1 and #5 were probaly the best.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

Yeah, they were bad with the lighting, though.  They have a slight tint to them--unnoticeable to most people, but they were turning dark in the photographs.

Take out the lenses. That's what I did for my high school senior pictures, back when I wore glasses. Usually you just need a really small screwdriver.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Three!  Three!  Three!

Smiling makes you look accessible and not pretentious.  Not that you look pretentious in other photos, but a reader would see the photo and get the impression that B. Sanderson as a person is probably friendly and a cool guy who likes fantasy like I do.

And you don't look like a smurf.

you know, my favorite part of that post is the period.  I mean, it's a no frills thing. No commentary. not even words, just a pound sign and a number.  But it has that period. very final.
