The article mention this is about a week old but it's still on the front page so I assume they're still taking votes

Suggestions Box / Attention Photoshoppers: Help request
« on: February 04, 2008, 09:57:46 PM »
I've been trying to get a background image for TWG that looks like old worn paper and haven't ever gotten anything that I like, the current background was made by using clouds and the smudge tool.  What I've been trying to make recently is something like in the last panel of this comic: http://www.robandelliot.cycomics.com/archive.php?id=280 and haven't been able to do so.

I know there are a bunch of people here that know much more then I about this stuff and so if anyone can give some pointers so I can do it (or just make it yourself) that would be much appreciated.  I need to be able to have somethign that can be tiled well and looks old, that's about the only requirements.

Several of you probably just got e-mails and PMs about earning awards, please ignore these there was a problem with the code I was running so I've revoked all the awards.

However, mostly because I'm lazy, I decided to not remove the fellpoints that you were all awarded.

Quote
Although the seventh Potter novel was published last January amid much fanfare as the final book in the beloved series, author J.K. Rowling has said in recent interviews that an eighth book is not out of the question.

According to a report Sunday in London's Daily Mail, Rowling said she has "moments of weakness" when she feels drawn to revisit the character, and that her biggest fan — her teen daughter Jessica — has been urging her to write another Potter book.

Rowling, 42, said that if she should decide to continue the series, the next book would not focus on Harry Potter as the main character.

Awards Board / Holiday Name 2007
« on: December 12, 2007, 07:37:16 PM »
Name: Holiday Name 2007
Image: TBA
Type: Unique
Level: 3+
Award Method: Achievement
Cost: N/A
Active: Yes
Active Date: December 12, 2007-December 31, 2007
Description: Voted Best Holiday Name 2007 in our Holiday naming events.

Running a little late this year, sorry folks.

Earn this Unique, that means only one for the forum folks, award by participating in our  Holiday Name 2007 in our Holiday naming event, this contest is open to most members so you need to be at least level 3 to participate (to cut down on possible fraud). If you've never been around for one of our holiday naming events let's go over the rules.

1)Name yourself something clever for the holiday (Christmas, New Years Hanukkah) by taking your username and twisting it to have relevance for the holiday

2)During the week December 12, 2007-December 31, 2007 PM Spriggan with your favorite 3 usernames.  Don't vote for yourself or we'll toss your votes, also don't bother trying to create a new account to vote for yourself, we have that level restriction for a reason and can easily determine who's cheating.

3) Spriggan will then take the top 5 names and create a poll allowing everyone to vote on their favorites (again you'll need to be level 3 to vote so don't bother trying to cheat) between January 1st-5th.

4) On January 6th the winner will be awarded their prize.
Good Luck!

Books / Bookswim: Netflix for books

Thought some people here might find this intresting, though they only have one of EUOL's books though they will purchase books people want to rent.  I think it's a little expensive at $15/mo for 2 book at a time, up to $40 for 11!--though I guess that's a good deal if you have lots of kids who read.

Site News / Because I care
« on: October 12, 2007, 06:06:15 AM »
Rich text editing has been installed, finally, for the main site.

This means that for blogs, articles, reviews and blurbs you do not have to enter any HTML at all into anything you submit, you can just copy from word and be done with it or type it directly into the form and format it the way you want.

HTML fans can click the "Source" button and edit that way as well.

To paste directly from Microsoft Word Please use the "Paste from Word" button so we get rid of magic quotes.

Ideally I want to make the styles drop down contain stuff from our style guide.

Also note that if you try to edit ANY articles that have bad HTML it will try to fix the HTML and add a bunch of code that will need to be cleaned up.  I learned this by trying to fix SE's bad bold tags in his recent blog post, he didn't have proper <p> tags I think.

Table-Top Games / Heroclix: Justice League set list and dials
« on: August 26, 2007, 06:38:19 AM »
HCrealms has a, supposedly, complete list of JL.  What you need to know:
http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204769

Green Lantern ATA:  All Characters with the Green Lantern team ability have the following team ability instead of the Green Lantern team ability:
When a character with this team ability makes an attack against a target character, you can modify the character's attack value by +1 for each friendly character with the GLC team symbol that has attacked the target this turn.

Contingency Plan: Pre-Requisites: Leadership or Mastermind
If the character's controller does not use all of his or her actions for a turn, put a contingency token on this card if there are two or fewer tokens on this card. When a friendly character is given an action, you can remove any number of tokens from this card: The character modifies the friendly characters speed, attack, or range value by +1 for each token removed.
When the character loses Leadership or Mastermind, remove all contingency tokens from this card.

characters worth looking at because of their custom powers:

All 3 batmans, Luthor, Granny Goodness, Firestorm,Big Barda & Mr. Miracle

I know Fell will be happy with those two feats, Contigency Plan was something he was talking about that was needed for Leadership before he knew the feat existed.  The fact it works for Mastermind makes it that much better.

If the list is true JL is looking to be one of the better clix sets done.

Nessa and I were talking and decided that we need to have an end of summer RiffTrax Party.

We're looking at the last week of August because I know there are people that have a lot of things going on in the next few weeks, including EUOL's new book.  So what day of the week are you interested in?  We can't do this Friday the 31st because our gracious host is busy that night.

Also post what Movie you want to watch.
