Brandon Sanderson / Re: Official Gathering Storm Cover Impressions

I really don't want to be mean, but this can't be considered art - it is just too bad.  I know Darryl is able to do better so my question is why didn't he?  Major time crunch?  I have scene artists create much much better work in handful of hours - did Darryl K. Sour really have less than an hour to complete this.  It would be interesting to hear what the explantion for this is.

If anyone aimed to be more complex than Erickson I wouldn't read it.  I like Erickson but it is too much to ask for me to learn some goofy system to understand books.  I don't have tons of time and I don't want to try to spend it figuring out the timeline of some make believe world where certain peoples use Omatose Limp-noodle and other peoples use Kurald Viagra but someone who is an inbreed can weild 3/4 of the and 1/8 of the other while being partially immune to magic.  It is too much to ask.  Erickson should spend a little less time making up weird crap and reading his own material to see  if even he understand what he has written.

I read part of it, but am not a fan of reading from a computer.  I will buy the book although i shouldn't because I am poor and I probably won't be able to read it for some time b/c of my WOT re-re-read.

It is ok, everyone ahs their own likes.  I for one think Jordan is good as it gets.  I don't think his writing is superior to Martin or some other guy that is good but I do think that his story is the best.  And as his writing isn't bad in the least, he is my favorite story teller.

I am in a re-read right now but thought I would pose a question to you all now.  Why has the Dark One been so nice to Ishmael?  He failed to convert Rand or kill him and in the process he is killed.  But the Dark One brings him back and makes him the master-pimp of the Foresaken and granting him access to the True Power.  How does that work?  After all another foresaken that failed, Bethemal (sp), came back as a woman as part of a punishment.

Brandon Sanderson / HOA book of the year?

I don't mean to start a new thread just about this, but look at me.

Am I just not reading enough or is this the book of the year?

I am not in the least beat sad that Vin and Elend died and I am not disturbed by how Elend died.  I loved the characters, but their sacrifice was worth it.  And Elend's grueseome death did not go un-noticed.  Perhaps it was such a gruesome death that gave Sazed the courage to wander out into the increasing heat (along with the bodies dropping out of the sky of course).

Decapitation?  Seems like a fitting death from Ruin.  Furthermore, once Elend's body later pops up with a head it attests to Sazed's power as a God.

Better late than never.  I finished the book last night.  I loved it.  The complaints I have heard, few and far between, are not within my comprehension.  Near perfect!!!

Ookla, you da man!

I don't mind a split and a collector's edition; however, being a WOT nut I am going to want the collector's edition plus I will want, at least, the dust jackets of the two volumes.  I doubt nuts like me will be able to be satisifed (without buying the two volumes also).

28
I don't mind two books, I just mind paying for two books  :(

And about the collector's edition, I am sure it would be available no earlier than book 2 so if someone wanted the collector's edititon they would miss out on reading the first book when it was released (unless they buy that too).

What can you do though? I don't blame Tor and I certainly can not and will not blame RJ, Harriet, and/or Brandon.

Yeah, I hope that he at least struggles to be this way.  I really just don't like the changes he's gone through. ha ha.  Maybe that's why people get divorced? xP

Well this is the man that Vin seemed to be shaping Elend into.  She loved his sensitive side, but also knew he had to grow a pair in order to rule a nation.  It seems that events as well as Vin's wise council has probably made Elend a better man.  Not just a dreamer, but a man of action.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Cover art for Mistborn 3

Is this the artist that did the first two hardcovers?  Looks very different from those (in a good way) or is this the guy that did the paperbacks or someone else altogether?
