Books / Re: So did you hear about Chris Paolini's books?

I would say that I have read a vast many books, and I still don't see it. But I'm not into disecting books either. I enjoy them as a way to escape.

I think you're just reading into it. Did you see anything in Harry Potter? ;)

Hmmm.. I should re-read stuff and look for those little nuances but honestly I am just to lazy.

And it just hurts the brain after a while. I honestly don't know how people spend so much time musing over things. Granted I do my fair share but I'm nothing like some of the hard core fanatics of HP and TWOT. I muse about it, come to a conclusion and move on. If I get into a discussion about it I'm more than happy to talk but I really have more books to focus on... er, oh yeah, and a family to manage, I forgot about them  ;)

I've always had the impression that Vin's mom had more to do with this than just showing Vin's upbringing. I had thought that was rather obvious. And I had figured her insistence on piercing Vin's ear might be significant as well all though I hadn't thought of it in that precise context before, I guess I had just figured I'd wait to worry about that one till the end.

I get tired of worrying about minor details that I don't know are going to be rectified, I've read to much Jordan to do that anymore.

yes that's more the impression I got too, that he had a childlike infatuation with a woman way to old for him. And when she tries to explain why it'll never work he casually shoves that aside, again in a very teenage manner and still pursues her. Very obnoxious, IMO.

Though I don't know if I'll be able to take much more homo-erotic subtext with a straight face (and hey, that's almost a pun).

-k- I must really be missing something in the books cause I haven't a clue what you are referring to.

I caught that when I was browsing amazon and then they had this little interview with him below it and I was half listening until he said that he had changed it to 4 books.

I'm semi-interested in this series, I thought the plot was rather thin, but I've been reading them none the less. I hated the movie, though, some of the acting was just painful.

He's changed it from 3 books to 4 books. I'm probably late on the band wagon here but I just read that and thought it was interesting.

I find an anti- stolen software policy for myself, can be very hard, not so much because I'm weak, cause I really push this and so does my husband, I use open office for that reason but we have family members who this bugs and they actually give me a hard time about it sometimes.

I've always thought of it this way, if it's illegal than I shouldn't be doing it. I can't imagine going to hell over a stolen movie, if I'm gonna pave my way there I'd rather do it on something a little more.... I don't know, lasting. ;)

Not saying that you all might feel it paves your way to hell, just my personal thought on the subject.

And I really had no idea what torrent was until spriggan replied, I'm still not sure I have a full grasp of it beyond it's illegally getting licensed stuff.

an enemy army is an enemy army... an enemy soldier is an enemy soldier... you can't differentiate between the two in war.

And besides I'd be far more worried about the koloss/ trollocs turning their blood thirst in my direction when they were done with Cett and Straff. They made mince meat out of the walls if you don't remember.

I don't think anyone's answered the original question yet... except maybe Ehler's but I don't know what he looks like so I'm still in a conundrum.  ;)

I'm not so sure I agree with you Vegas. My reasoning is based on what you said

Quote
When almost the entire population, skaa included, think all of this is right and proper, the fact that Kelsier wants to kill the same people that would have him put to death without batting an eyelash, seems sane by comparison.

He is a skaa and by your definition of that he should think that it is okay for the nobility to behave in such a manner. His thinking differently than almost the entire population suggests the opposite. If in fact we are defining sanity on the realms of this world and not our own.

In our own world they would indeed all seem insane BUT him, however in his world it's the opposite. Make sense?
