Um... That is completely uncool. I think that for most people here, that would be much worse than waking up to find your phone no longer works. Does he not understand that the internet is an essential line of communication and community support? It is unhealthy to be cut off socially.

so uncool. ;) but I think I'll have to survive with it for a while since we are moving in August. Sigyn... I feel your pain, I hope it goes by quickly and you actually manage to sleep a little.

I just finished a book called 'West with the Night' by Beryl Markham. Okay, wow, that was an amazing book. I should do a review on it or something... if I ever get around to it.

It's this girl memoirs from growing up in Africa in the mid 1900's. It's incredible and she's an excellent writer, I highly recommend it.

Oh and just to add to the umph, my friend picked it up at a library book sale... one of those gems you find evey once in a while.

Yeah, we should give you some sort of award. You'd better get some killer Mother's Day gift.

Okay... I'll admit it. I'm reading 'The Host' by Stephenie Meyer. So far it's a bit slow going, but that might just be because I'm not so into Sci-Fi. It's not bad though.

Yes, well, right there is an issue. Deed? For heaven's sake it's a huge book and has more than one 'Deed' going on. I really almost gave it up in the first few chapters when she was just learning to be a mercenary for page upon page! But I plugged along and then it got a little interesting when their Fort was captured. I still don't know how I feel about that book, some parts were exceptional. Like when she's alone in the world and goes to the priest friend of her's and offers all her possessions up to him then intends to go die. I cried!
And the lack of a love story just kills me. I like having some kind of romance going on or the book is rather dull for me.

But yes, to much torture.

I've always stuck firmly to the philosophy that I'd rather be sick then have the kids sick. So sorry for you.

On a funny note... my 15 month old has discovered how to spin in circles, much to his delight. So he goes around and around and around in the living room until, the other day, he threw up! We were laughing so hard, the kid spun his lunch out of himself!

Hey, in England they were paying 1.09 (pounds) a liter. That's 4.14 (pounds) a gallon.

Some of the people on our tour were from New Zealand and they said they were paying $1.90 a liter (NZ dollar) which would be $7.22 a gallon!

That's without the conversion rate. I'm not sure what NZ dollar is worth (probably less than ours), but our dollar is worth half of the Pound Sterling.

I decided filling my truck up for $100 bucks isn't so bad, at least I'm not paying $8 a gallon.

When I write a review I try to include warnings when the book contains potentially offensive material. Sex, profanity, and gore in particular. It may make the book 'real' but they are images that are difficult to remove from your head once you've read them. These things make me feel a certain way that I don't like and there are others who are more sensitive than I am. It's fair enough to warn people when material contains this kind of content whether it's movies, games, or books, esp for parents who want a certain control over what their kids are exposed to.

This is what I love! Whenever I write a review on amazon (or SFBC) I make sure to mention if there is any sex, violence, or language. And I really like the SFBC warnings but I've found that what they consider 'violent' and 'explicit' is far above what I consider violent. Case in point:

My brother in law gave me the 'Deeds of Paksinarion' (I think I spelled that wrong) -it's the omnibus- and I didn't mind it until near the end there is this torture scene... descriptive, very, very descriptive and LONG. I think we're talking a full chapter at least. It was one of those moments where you've just invested over 1000 pages and you know something big is gonna happen in the center of the scene you don't want to be reading.

Anyway, after I finished the book I looked it up and SFBC did not have a warning on it. So, with my impressive skills of deduction, I came to the conclusion that I do not have any interest in knowing what's in the books that do have warnings on them.

I also have stopped reading Elizabeth Haydon. Her books have a lot of sex in them, but I kept on reading despite this because I was intrigued. Until I ran across a particularly foul scene in the last book that was out (she's since had another come out that I haven't bought).

And I've learned to avoid fantasy books with demons in them. I don't know why, but when there is a demon it seems as if authors feel that gives them free rein on all things evil and violent. I don't like that so I avoid it.

I guess what I'm saying is that I agree that experience is the best educator. Sometimes I wish that there were ratings like on movies, with a list of reasons why its rated that, in the order of precedence, because it would help me in not picking up garbage. But until that happens, I guess I'll just have to go with experience, reviews and friendly advice to see me through. Well okay, and maybe opening the book before I buy it.

Where do you live!? Arizona?

I left for my trip to England with snow in my yard, came home -after two weeks of sun- to what? Snow.

It's the 21st of April for heaven's sake! What's wrong with this place!

But I'm grumpy cause I'd rather be in England, enjoying what was an immensely satisfying vacation, then here.

Yes, I live in Arizona.  And now I'm grumpy that you got to go to England.  I've always wanted to go, but haven't been able to pull it off.

Aw, good ol' AZ. I used to live in Tempe, so I feel for you.

I'm sorry I got to go on such a cool trip :) next time I'll invite you to go along to. But until then if you go on a tour go with Cosmos or Globus (Globus being the higher end one)  They did a good job, I was pleased. But it's really expensive over there. The pound is worth double the dollar, so I tried really hard not to think about that when I bought that picture for 27 pounds or that skirt for 20 pounds.

And may I also recommend spending time in Scotland. By far my favorite part of the trip.

I'm grumpy because my A/C was blowing hot air instead of cold and the temperature outside was in the upper 90s yesterday.

Hooray! Don't go moping around (or holding any parties) if I'm not around for the next two weeks, I'm off on a grand trip, planned for at least a year! It consists of traveling to far away lands, spending way to much money and having my husband at home with the kids ALONE- while I enjoy my first real vacation since I've had children. WOO HOO! and ta-ta!

I'm so sick of April Fool's. I've really gotten it bad this year. One of my family member's even announced that we sold some land we've been trying to sell and made about quadruple for it that it was selling for. I about died... Stupid April Fool's.

Then I read that and my heart skipped a beat, thanks guys. I think I'll go cry now.  ;)
