Everything Else / Mission: Truth Restored
« on: November 01, 2004, 08:38:02 PM »
In about 40 hours I'll be on my way to the MTC in Provo, prepping for a mission in St. Louis Missouri.

I'll be allowed to email on P-days, so in case any of my old friends still hang out here, my email follows -- hopefully such that bots won't catch it. Obviously, ignore whitespace.

Everything Else / Brian Lacy's Mission Call
« on: September 21, 2004, 02:21:24 PM »
I received my mission call on Sept 15! I'm going to St. Louis, Missouri, and I leave on November 3rd (my 25th birthday).

I haven't participated in this forum for quite some time -- maybe since S.E. brought AORP to a close (I was Master Providian in that game) -- and the majority of you don't even know who I am. But I wanted to let everyone know, because those I've met are great people, and this is a great forum -- and because a couple of you have been good friends.

Those who might be interested in writing occasionally have my email address. To the rest of you -- perhaps I'll stop in again in a couple of years. :)

What game system was used for that superheroes game that was run on this board early last year?

Everything Else / Time Machine Thread #2
« on: June 20, 2003, 12:10:15 PM »
There's another Time Machine thread in the 'Rants and Stuff' section, and I didn't feel like coming up with a more creative name for this one just at the moment.

Question: If you had a one-way ticket to any point in time -- for instance, you have a one-time-use time machine -- what date would you choose? Keep in mind, its one way, so there's no coming back. You'd have to live in that time for the rest of your natural life, and any changes you made to the future (if you went backward) would not directly affect you.

Role-Playing Games / RPG Sense
« on: June 15, 2003, 12:03:12 AM »
Several threads on this forum got me thinking.. would it be possible to use a forum thread to collaborate on building a game system? No, I'm not talking about working with an online team to develop a quality game system -- it would be more like a "round-robin" style story, but each poster would contribute their own mostly-self-contained rules that build off of existing rules.

It may not be very balanced, or even very logical -- but I dunno, maybe it could be fun.

For instance, if I were going to start it, I'd write something simple like:

Character Building - Stats

The three primary stats that define a character's abilities are:
Physical
Mental
Spiritual

Three secondary stats are derived from the primary stats:
Dexterity = Physical + Mental
Charisma = Physical + Spiritual influence
Wisdom = Spiritual + Mental

Maybe a strange idea, maybe a ridiculous one, but its something to do, at least. Comments of all kinds welcome.

Suggestions Box / Forum RPG Mod
« on: May 17, 2003, 09:06:23 PM »
I like the forum's RPG mod -- I chose to follow the path of the Student of Honor. :) But I'm curious, where does it come from? I couldn't find it on the website dedicated to YaBB mods. Is it a Custom mod? And if so, is there any way I can get it? I'd like to do a conversion for YaBB SE.

Role-Playing Games / Does anyone actually play CoC?
« on: May 17, 2003, 12:14:53 AM »
The new d20 Call of Cthulu... I heard a ton about it before and just after release, and haven't heard a word about it since. Does anyone actually play it? Enjoy it? Despise it? Why?

Can anyone tell me if the Shadowmarch series is any good?
