Well, since I haven't written many articles lately, I decided I should get to doing something.  So, BING!  All the forum game classe titles go up to 50.

Who loves you?  EUOL loves you.

Books / Peter David's KNIGHT LIFE
« on: August 20, 2003, 07:41:14 AM »
That's an extremely well-written review, SE.

(Ha ha.  The rest of you can't read it until Fell decides to approve it.  Neener neener.)

Movies and TV / FLCL
« on: August 06, 2003, 03:45:12 AM »
Okay, Cartoon network is running this anime on Adult Swim.  It is completely insane.  In the first episode, a strange alien girl on a motorcycle smashes the main character on the head with her chainsaw-guitar and he grows a giant robot from his skull.

Yeah.

Anyway, it's strangely transfixing.  I don't understand it at all, but something about its animation style is very interesting.

Movies and TV / Gigli
« on: August 02, 2003, 12:24:39 AM »
Well, this movie has the unenviable position of being tied with Battlefield Earth on the tomatometer average.  4%.  The only major movie we could think of that had lower was Master of Disguise, with its whopping 1%.

Anyone seen it?  What do you think.

Books / Reviews
« on: July 14, 2003, 03:32:15 AM »
So, I think I'm going to start doing book reviews.  I have pretty much left webcomics alone for a while.  I think I have to focus more on something closer to my own chosen profession, and it will do me good to think about the books I read more critically.

So, I'll try and develop something of a sub-breakdown of review categories like I did with webcomics.  I'll want to look at specific aspects of the novels.  Any suggestions for what you would want to see in book reviews?  I'd rather like to nail it down the first time, so I don't have multiple review categories running around like I did with webcomics.

Movies and TV / AFI 50 top heroes
« on: June 06, 2003, 07:40:03 AM »
No, I'm not trying to restart the hero discussion.  However, in light of it, I was very amused by a USA Today article I saw that spoke about the American Film Institute's '50 top heroes and villains' from cinema.

I found the list on-line.

I noticed a couple of things.

First, Atticus Finch?
Second, Harrison is on there twice.
Third, Superman didn't even make the to 25.  That's disappointing--he kind of defines the word 'hero' to me.

Everything Else / What ever happened to...
« on: May 30, 2003, 06:52:29 PM »
Hey, what ever happened to Lord of Me?  I know he became Ismir the Elf after a while, right?  Is he still around under a different name?

Everything Else / Econ 101
« on: May 29, 2003, 06:36:28 PM »
All right, so I'm curious.  Anyone know any real economic theory?  I'm not asking for rightist or leftist arguments--I get plenty of those from television pundits.  My father claims that cutting taxes, even bringing a government into a deficit, is the only way to stimulate an economy.  He, however, is rather conservative in his political ideals.  Anyone know about such things?

Movies and TV / Skar's impending return
« on: May 24, 2003, 12:25:10 AM »
I don't know how many of you know this, but Skar--our movie guy--has been off fighting (or preparing to) in the middle east since last July.  I got an email from him saying he should be back by the end of the month.

Webcomics & Free Stuff / Sea of Insanity
« on: November 21, 2002, 01:15:07 AM »
So, I'm going to do a review of this one.  The artist emailed me, and I liked the comic well enough to read through it.  What do you guys think of it?

Role-Playing Games / TWG RPG
« on: November 15, 2002, 07:03:12 AM »
Okay, folks, as a "Wecome Me Back" present, Morag and I are working on a free RPG (paper based) to start doing updates for on the TWG.  That's right, we're going to write an RPG--or attempt it, at least.  So, here's my question for you all:  What do you want to see?  It's going to be fantasy, but New Fantasy (IE, Robert Jordan as opposed to Terry Brooks--fantasy buffs will know the difference.)

Let me know what kind of things you think should be part of a good RPG, and what we certainly shouldn't include.

Everything Else / Cool stuff found on the Internet (Take 2)
« on: April 17, 2002, 11:03:25 PM »
Okay....
Wow, the stuff you miss while you're asleap. (You sure you're all okay?  I thought I saw some body parts flying in there...)

Anyway, I started this thread because I like to plumb it for things to review for the Tower of Cheapness, and because I like seeing what people find on the internet.  So, we'll try again.  If you happen to find an interesting link--not nessissarily something you want to plug, just something amusing or of particular note--feel free to post it here.
