I just finished it yesterday and I loved it too.  Though I felt bad for John in the end.

That thought crossed my mind too.

I actually prefer the old to the new.  The writers of the new version took out everything that I loved about the original and threw it out the window.  Yes, the special effects are corny, but it's still really good.  Besides, there's lots of hidden goodies in the story that you have to be pretty familiar with LDS theology to pick out.

While we're on the subject, I've been curious as to how one establishes a pseudonym.  Do you just start submitting manuscripts under that name or is there a more legal/proper way to do it?

Been watching Battlestar Galactica. I'm about halfway through the series. I don't know how I managed to ignore this for so many years, and am indebted to my roommate that made me start.

The original series or the Sci-fi channel version?

Nope.  You're not the only one.  The worst part is that it's exactly how he deals with arguments.  It's really irritating.

I love the one of Gwen and the baby.  It's a testament to modern motherhood.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Allow of Law Excerpt (Updated with Ch2)

I really like that Brandon introduces Bendalloy by using it so Wax and Wayne can have a private conversation, rather than in a fight. :)

I really liked that part too.  Wayne is such a charming scoundrel.  Steris reminds me of Mr. Collins a bit.  I really hope he doesn't marry her.

I'd accept an apology if fardawg actually offers one.  As for further action?  I don't know.  I'm willing to let this go and ignore his further posts.  Now that he has that "My opinion is the only right opinion" mentality I don't want to dignify his comments with a response.  That's why I stopped commenting on that thread.

If it's decided that a permanent ban is the correct course of action, that's fine by me, but I do worry that he'll log in on another account and start this crap all over again.  Perhaps we just need to ignore the tantrum and hope that he'll get the hint.

Bloodlines was predictable.  It's not as good as her previous works.

I started reading Hit List by Laurell K. Hamilton and it's super awesome so far.

Renoard's advice works if you actually expect the work to succeed, and if that's what you can get for an advance. I'd imagine most people in your friend's shoes would be amenable to the percentage of sales without the advance. (That's low-risk for him.)

I actually disagree.  Asking for a percentage of the sales is a lot more risky.  You're gambling on the movie actually making money.  Accountants in the movie industry are very good at making even the biggest blockbusters look like total failures.

Definitely go for the advance, that way you'll actually get paid for your work.

This piece isn't a fantasy.  It's contemporary.  The flame in flaming slapfest is the fact that the characters are all flaming gay drag queens.  The smoke stains are to give the backstage area some history and ambiance.  It's a flashback to when you could still smoke backstage.  The "burned the place down" remark was figurative.

Hope that clears everything up.
