whose ideas of honor do honorspren follow, because honor is different from one culture to the next, is there one universal way that honorspren adhere to, or is it completely up to the individual

Syl specifically wants Kaladin to speak the words from the Way of Kings. The code of honor followed by the knights radiant. I think there is enough in-world evidence that we can be pretty safe using those codes as the benchmark.

My understanding was that Sazed could take both shards because every living creature on that planet (can't recall the mistborn planet sorry) was created by both shards in tandem, and thus everyone was part preservation and part ruin. Therefore they were "compatible" with both. I can't remember the line specifically but I got that impression from a scene with Vin after she had absorbed the preservation shard. She though to herself something along the lines that Laras (preservation) had specifically planned this sequence of events because he needed someone who was both ruin and preservation to destroy Ati.

But maybe I read into the entire thing wrong

All of the Heralds except Taln, anyone who is willing to leave a colleague to an eternity of barbaric torture has my vote.

I wonder if further Ideals after the 2nd allow the use of shardblade and shardplate.  There's 5, for each order, and the 1st is the same for all of them.  Kaladin leveled up after saying the 2nd.

Did anyone else notice this:
Quote
Holding his breath, he clung to the Stormlight. He could still feel it leaking out. Stormlight could be held for only a short time, a few minutes at most. It leaked away, the human body too porous a container. He had heard that the Voidbringers could hold it in perfectly. But, then, did they even exist? His punishment declared that they didn’t. His honor demanded that they did.
- Szeth, prologue
Quote
Kaladin relaxed. He was still steaming light, and—save for the call to Lopen—he’d been holding his breath for a good quarter hour. That could be handy, he thought, though his lungs were starting to burn, so he started to breathe normally. The Light didn’t leave him altogether, though it escaped faster.
- Kaladin, when he's climbing up with the rocks

Szeth said it could only be held for a few minutes, then Kaladin holds it (and his breath) for 15 minutes?

15 minutes could be considered a "few" minutes for the purpose of narration.

Quote
"I've many." The man took Kaladin's hand. "I began life as a thought, a concept, words on a page. That was another thing I stole. Myself. Another time, I was named for a rock."
"A pretty one, I hope."
"A beautiful one," the man said. "And one that became completely worthless for my wearing it"

I posted this quote up on 17th shard, The second part makes me think he held one at one point and time, and then lost it.

This makes plenty of sense. I can't believe I didn't pick up on the "named for a rock" thing. That sounds like he was named for a shard, just like how Ati became known as simply ruin. Although how he lost it or how it became worthless isn't so clear. We haven't seen if a shard holder is even capable of giving up their power yet. But it would explain why Hoid is so well versed in the cosmere.

This might be nitpicking a bit but this is really bothering me. I think you guys have the whole Reod thing wrong. The Elantrins didn't become "zombies" because the dor was cut off or slowed down. They became zombies because after the chasm was added to landscape the Aon was suddenly INCOMPLETE, thus their transformation into elantrins got "stuck" halfway through. Now I have no idea what would happen if they went to another planet. But they wouldn't become zombies again. That was a very unique set of circumstances. (Which it now seems was orchestrated by odium)
Well, the issue there seemed to be that they were getting the Dor "wrong", or perhaps not enough.

The question is how reliant Elantrians are on the Dor to survive.

Exactly, I never read anything in Elantris that implied they required the Dor OR the Aon that Elantris formed in order to actually survive. They simply received their power ( and for a while their curse ) through it. I feel like if an Elantrin were to venture far enough away from the Elantris aon then they would simply revert back to whatever they would be if the city of Elantris had never been built. Which could very well be the non-glowy guys we saw in the interlude.
The question I ask is that if their powers are so vastly reduced as they travel away from Elantris (that's a fact) then what power are they using to planet-hop? As far as we know there is no actual 17th shard, that's probably just some romantic name that the group came up with. And if they can't use the AonDor, then we have to assume the Elantrins ( if they are indeed Elantrins and not just some random people from Sel) have discovered quite a bit more about the cosmere than they previously knew.

Szeth and Kaladin are almost certain to fight in the next book. But like someone said earlier, Szeth will wipe the floor with him. At least in their first fight. Szeth has been doing this for a lot longer, and has a Shardblade. Even if Kaladin were properly trained and experienced he still is simply not as well armed.

Hey maybe we will see if stormlight can heal Kaladin's arm after Szeth kills it with his blade..

I lean towards the idea that Hoid does NOT hold a shard for 2 simple reasons:

1) He's still walking around. Every other Shard holder we've encountered very quickly expanded into something that was more like a cloud consciousness and had no (humanoid) body. It's -possible- that Hoid's shard is unique in that respect, but I doubt it. Which leads me to point..

2) Hoid IS unique. I believe Brandon is creative enough that he doesn't need to fall back on the "Shard Holder" idea to explan every powerful being in the Cosmere. I like to believe that although Hoid was present during the shattering, he didn't actually get a shard, and his power has more to do with a deep understanding on how the Cosmere work. Basically he knows how to manipulate the natural forces of the Cosmere to his own ends.

I have more reasons to think this things about Hoid, including the wording of several quotes, but I'm going to hold off posting them for a different thread.
