Its most likely a cultural thing, competition is highly honored in Alethi society it is everywhere in their culture, so I doubt it is all that big a deal

I was thinking his father was something like a stone shaman, or someone who was also a surgebinder, and was able to teach it to Szeth, or maybe his father is some kind of ruler or leader in Shin or something

what happens to shardholders if they already had abilities? like Sazed being a feruchemist and taking hold of Ruin and Preservation, could he somehow store godly abilities in some kind of metal for later use? does he simply lose his ability? what would happen if a mistborn took some other shard, could they use that shard as a power source? or do conflicting abilities simply forbid you to take up shards?

I dont know if we can just assume that the shards meld together, maybe the two shards are not corresponding pieces, and dont mix easily, and maybe the shards dont even meld together, Hoid wasnt even sure when he was talking about the man being pieced together from differing parts.  so I think it is still a little early to be considering frankenshard

the map of shadesmar and roshar correspond, the only difference is that in shadesmar the areas of land from roshar are oceans, and oceans are land, so each ocean is considered a single concept, and the areas of land have many many concepts to be considered, makes one wonder if there would be highstorms in shadesmar

if there is one surgebinder in Shin, there are bound to be more. also i dont think that Truthless is a position that any normal citizen in Shin can get, i think that Szeths dad is someone very important, and that is why he refuses to go by his fathers name
