I really like it too. The colors are great.  Should look awesome when it's printed. My only complaint (still) is that isn't it supposed to be a mistcloak, not a mistskirt?

Sounds like fun! Seth and I are leaving Utah 22nd as well and we're always up for Italian food. Well, food of any sort, but especially Italian.

Ok, ok, I'll give you that. But if it makes you feel better this vacation is, in fact, about visiting my in-laws and friends who still live in Salt Lake, as well as catching one who's coming down from that end of Canada that week. It's a happy mix of coincidene and planning that the pre-release is happening while I'm out there.  :P

*dances* Woohoo! Finally got plane tickets to Utah for this shindig. It was looking grim for a while when prices went up past $400 but thankfully they came down a bit. Still, this is definately the most expensive book I'll have ever bought. ;D

A lot of people are a little OCD about something. The rest of my house may get to be a mess, but my books will be stacked and shelved in order by size and alphabetically! Brandon's OCD is just a little more useful than mine.  ;D I'm already looking forward to reading it. ^^ Just take care of yourself Brandon, and don't get carpal tunnel!

Macs are prettier?  ;D Though I can't play Guild Wars on my mac which is a major downside... but it's definately prettier than my husband's computer!

I, unfortunately, do not get favoritism from my husband and GM of our Mage game. No matter how much I threaten him. You'd think that since we're married he'd pick on me as often as he does in game. Sometimes I have sneaking suspicions that he *enjoys* infuriating and tormenting me by binding my character to the bad guy's whims with a nasty geas that'll drop all my stats to 1 if I break it...

Though there are benefits to being married to the GM! Living with him gives me lots of time to harass him with ideas for my character until he either caves and promises to let me do whatever I want or I get a Munchkinesque deal: "promise to stop telling the GM about your character, go up a level" ;D Course with that I usually get completely screwed over somehow... maybe I really should just side with the bad guy and betray the party... then that geas won't be a problem anymore...

August 18 eh?  ;D If it weren't 11pm in Utah at the moment, I'd call and reserve my spot right now. Ah well, it'll have to wait for tomorrow I suppose... *wanders off to find airline tickets*

Brandon Sanderson / MB2 release party?
« on: March 19, 2007, 07:03:32 AM »
Ok, so maybe it's still a bit early to think about, but I was wondering if there were any plans for the release party for MB2 yet. MB1 was in Provo and I was hoping that MB2 would follow suit. I've somehow managed to convince my husband to let me fly out for it if it is. ;D Besides, there's a small anime con in SLC at the end of August one of my friends wants me to come out for and I have family in the area -  although that may all be just a happy coincidence...

I think I need a bumper sticker or a t-shirt with "What would Lord Ruler do" on it...  ;D

To stay on topic, I vote against sending the loved ones  to the moon. Think of the transportation costs. Maybe Michigan, which could possibly be worse depending on which peninsula you pick, but not the moon.

Just be sure to let me know when and where and I'll be there :) Still new to town, jobless, and without a social life, my schedule is completely open.

Even letting TLE peoples and Quarkies know that TWG exists would probably help. When I was in Quark and went to TLE two or three times I never even heard of it. The only reason I found it was because of Brandon's site. And Geek Girl convinced me to lurk rather than wandering back out again. So definately more of that. ^^ LTUE would also be a good recruiting place. Get a booth or run the gaming room or something. *shrugs* Wouldn't be that hard. Heck, some of you probably run/ran LTUE.

I'm afraid that I have to agree that the pb cover is not up to par with the hb.  Mostly for the same reasons that everyone else has mentioned. My other two beefs were that 1) the grim reaper not only doesn't belong there, but it also completely out of proportion to the street he's standing on. Compare his height to the doorway, for example. 2) Vin isn't wearing the mistcloak. There are streamers attached to her waist, and that's it!  Not to mention the fact that she's wearing a skirt and pants together. Terribly unfortunate fashion statement, I must say.

So, I propose dinner on the 22nd with TWG East.  Does that work for folks?

My hubby and I are all for it. Just let us know when and where and we'll give it a really good shot at being there! It is our anniversary though, so we wouldn't terribly mind another day if it were suggested...
