Are we still planning on tomorrow? Will anyone else who's read it be joining us?

I finished it, too. But we will talk about it tomorrow.  I do have comments, but will leave the copyediting to Chimera. (I wasn't tempted enough to do the work involved in editing--although I did enjoy it when Vij leaned on his email.)

So it's a YA novel, huh?

When a scene becomes clear to me, I write it....I'll write a consecutive scene for an hour, and then go write a scene I'm excited about that takes place several chapters away. Then I have to figure out to get from where I am to what I've written.

I do that, too. It's a terrible habit, but I've found that if I don't write what comes to me right away, I lose it, and that's upsetting, especially when it's good stuff.

I think my creative energy is sapped right now anyway.... Coming home and writing was my creative outlet. But right now I'm coming home and don't even want to read, let alone write. How do you find the creative energy when you're sapped?

Too familiar. I had a tech writing job for several years, and that didn't sap my energy and creativity as much as having kids has. I wrote prolifically in high school and college, but as soon as I gave birth <slurp> there goes any creativity down the sink. Perhaps it's the sleepless nights. Perhaps it's doing the same messy stuff day after day. But finally, after years, the writing bug has bit again. So I think creativity ebbs and flows, depending, and just because it's gone now, doesn't mean it's gone forever.

One week from today is the next meeting. Isn't it SE's turn to send out the reading for this week?

Rants and Stuff / Re: NaNoWriMo names.

Names I've wanted to give my children (but my husband didn't like):
Tess (or Tessa)
Megan
Charlotte (common nickname is Char, which I think is cool!)
Nicole (although I don't like the nickname Nikki)
Justin
James
Douglas (although there are some stupid nicknames for Douglas)
Zack
Marisa
Anita

Names I think are weird that my family/friends have named their kids:
Kyler
Fredrick
Ashlynn
Mikayla (the sound of the name isn't bad, I just think the spelling is strange)
Edward
Raylene
Lowell
Ashton (Kutcher-style, I mean how can anyone take a kid seriously with that name?)

By the way, here's a website I often use to search for names:

I bought #1 when it first was out in paperback many years ago, and it took me three tries to get through the boring first couple of chapters.
I couldn't quit reading the series, though, desite several frustrating books. I have to finish stories, no matter how stupid because I want to know how they end.
In this book (#10), however, the Mat storyline I liked, and I want to see its completion. Not everyone will, of course, but it finally goes somewhere and it's interesting, mostly Tuon's point-of-view, IMHO.

Um...
Was I mistaken, or did we have a meeting scheduled Tuesday night? Was there a miscommunication somewhere? Did everyone lose interest? Are we still going to do this? I still want to.

Actually quite a lot happens. Book 10 was very frustrating because it was slow and nothing happened. However, in this one, Perrin's, Mat's, and Elayne's storylines have some resolution, and there aren't any new major characters. There are a few minor sidetracks, but in all it was a satisfying book.
There's also a lot of references to the fact that the last battle is coming soon (it's said in almost every chapter). Hopefully, that's a sign...

Oldie,
Are you the one who wrote the Further Adventures of Sci-Fi mom in issue 49? I love that. I read it every once-in-a-while when I need a good laugh. It's hilarious. Someday that will be my boys (who are only 18 months and 2 1/2 right now).

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I can't do the 4th Tuesday of each month (book club...I'm hosting the book swap that night). I can do next Wednesday (the 26th). So, how about 2nd Tuesday & 4th Wednesday, 7pm MST? Does that work?

I'll email Chapter 1 today.

I haven't used IRC before, but I'm game (I saw instructions on here somewhere....), but when I email you, that email address I use has an MSN Messenger account, so you can IM if things get hairy.
