Brandon Sanderson / Re: Welcome!
« on: June 24, 2009, 09:58:15 PM »
Addendum from the forum moderators:

Brandon's forum is part of a larger community, The Official Time-Waster's Guide, so a few of the things you would normally post in a forum belong somewhere else. This subforum is only for discussions relating directly to Brandon Sanderson or the things he has written. Other authors, movies, games, and general chitchat belong in other subforums you can access from the "TWG Forums" link near the top of the screen. There are subforums for Roleplaying, Video Games, Books, Movies and TV, Music, Webcomics, Tabletop Games, CCGs, Rants and "Everything Else." We encourage you to explore these other forums as well, because we think you'll find the people and conversations interesting

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Hoid??

Wow, you guys are *still* going on this? I really need to talk to Brandon and see if any of the Hoid stuff he explained a couple years ago has changed. And then find out how much of it he actually wants to keep secret...

Did anyone else notice that the couples have alliterative names (well, except for Blushweaver and Lightsong)? I had to laugh at that. Was that on purpose?

Wow, I can't believe I got through the whole book and didn't notice something as simple as that.

That's a great commentary on both the book and you. :) I enjoyed it.

The demon actually confused Kimberly when she read it. She had to call me up then and there to ask if she'd read it right or if it was supposed to be a dream or something. On the other hand, I don't think she reads a lot of fantasy, so she wasn't going to adapt to it very quickly either way.

Movies and TV / Re: Reliving my childhood: The Secret of NIMH

I do remember that movie having a wonderful atmosphere, similar to things like Tron or Labyrinth. My dad hated it because it was so wildly different than the book, but I still think of it fondly.

Even though you clarified it, I'm still going to picture that one in my head with Brandon being the one with the sexy pose, because it's far more hilarious.

It is Jordan, until you've spent more than 5 minutes talking to him, after which it becomes Jordo.

Readers are, of course, welcome to form all the opinions they'd like. However, having heard it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak, I can say that last time I talked to him about it, they were all different worlds in the same universe.

Also, personally I prefer the term "Brandonverse," but that's strictly unofficial. :)

Yeah, I'll throw my vote in for the B&W + closed-eyes Vin. I prefer her looking a little serene, because I get the feeling that the scene around her is very much not.

Oh, well shows what I know. I didn't realize the poll was connected like that. Apologies!

Dan Wells / Re: Burgers

I don't necessarily have anything against Carl's, but I have to say, if you're going to have a lunch get-together for burgers, why not go to Five Guys? Those Cajun fries are wonderful, and the burgers were really good too.
