Brandon Sanderson / MOVED: For Brandon - Religion (Potentially sensitive)
« on: November 20, 2008, 09:19:39 PM »
This topic has been moved to Rants and Stuff.
Since the thread's been resurrected, and the new stuff really has nothing to do with Brandon, I'm moving it to a more appropriate forum.

Everything Else / I'm back, and now I have two kids. :)
« on: October 23, 2008, 10:40:52 PM »
Well, Chris and I are now the proud parents of two adorable children.  I went into the hospital early Monday morning, and Jonas Timothy Kugler was born at 8:29 p.m. that evening (Oct. 20). He was 9 lbs. 15 oz. and 20 inches long. Big sister Brenna pronounced him "cute," but isn't so sure about the crying.

Here's a picture (or two):

Chris got a new job in Atlanta, Georgia. In fact, he's already gone out to look for a place to live. Brenna and I will be in town until the end of the month, so I thought I'd see if anyone wanted to come have a potluck dinner/goodbye party before I go. It'd probably be the evening of the 24th at my apartment here in Holladay--say, around 5 or so--whatever works best for people.

Any takers?

I was browsing the internet today, and came across this nifty job opening: http://jobsearch.monster.com/getjob.asp?JobID=38715586&AVSDM=2006%2D01%2D25+14%3A44%3A07&Logo=1&q=editor&fn=5623&cy=us

Anyone want to be an editor for DC comics? :)

Everything Else / Hey Skar...how safe is the green zone in Baghdad?
« on: January 10, 2005, 02:54:25 AM »
And were you ever in Baghdad itself? I'm wondering because my dad is heading over there in a week (he'll be there for six months). I know the green zone is the "safe" zone, but really, how safe is it? Thanks! :)

Rants and Stuff / Ow!
« on: September 14, 2004, 01:46:59 AM »
I hurt.  I guess I slept wrong last night, because I haven't been able to turn my head to the right all day without excruciating pain.  Ow, ow, ow. Ice packs don't help that much, and neither do pain relievers.

Any suggestions on how to get my neck to stop trying to murder me with daggers to the brain everytime I move?

Everything Else / Nifty! I got to read a story by Skar!
« on: July 20, 2004, 02:26:43 AM »
For some strange reason, Leading Edge has a subscription to Sunstone Magazine. Sometimes I like to flip through it and shake my head at the interesting version of scholarship within, so I opened up the issue we got today. Well,I happened to notice that a story by Skar was in there.  It was the prize winner for a contest (the Brown somethingorother contest, I think).  Yay for a published story!

Plus, it was fun to see his picture--he has a huge, thick beard in it, and he was cleanshaven the last time I actually saw him in person (which, granted, was a long time ago, since he's been overseas for two years).

Anyways, it was fun to see another friend's name in print.

Everything Else / *This* close to publication
« on: July 01, 2004, 08:19:49 PM »
It's an academic publication, but still. :)

I presented a paper at a symposium on the works of Ursula K. Le Guin at the beginning of April, and my paper is being considered for publication in a journal called "Paradoxa."

Yay! :)
