We should probably add the thing about Hoid being present at the Shattering to the first page.
That is confirmed, isn't it?

Does Brandon even have a plan on writing the second Mistborn books? Doesn't he have like seventeen books he wants to get done before he goes back to that?

Reading Excuses / Re: Your Background

I started writing little stories with a group of friends when we were ten, pertaining to some characters we had created in a Sonic video game(If you know what I'm talking about, we all had several of our own chao). They wrote little info guides and life stories for their characters, but I discovered that I couldn't write two-page stories and started on one that ended up at about fifty(typed). Since then I've been writing fantasy and changing that original story into people(not chao) and fixing the storyline so I might one day have a good book to sell.
I've always been a stronger reader than writer, so I'm not planning on ever doing full-time writing or anything, just as a pastime.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: How did you find out about Brandon Sanderson?

I had a friend who was trying to explain Mistborn(because he was currently reading it and way into it), and since I'm heavy into reading, I asked if I could borrow it. From there, I just couldn't stop, particularly after I noticed the Hoid phenomenon.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: When does the next Brandon Sanderson-book come out?

I think he is done writing the book, but mostly the release date was just a guess as to when it would be ready for sell. It may even change, but I don't think it will.

Way of Kings, I believe.

I was wondering how Adonalsium was a shard when people were calling them 'shards of adonalsium'. Makes sense Brandon wouldn't clear it all up in one sentence.
Mind giving me a refresher on a voice talking to Lightsong?

Books / Re: Twilight is NOT the worst book ever!

I don't know how I ever enjoyed Twilight, but it's not the worst.
Ever read Wren to the Rescue? That was frightening.

Sadly I'd have to drop into the younger age-level books to find things I'd be totally comfortable with (of course, just because they're simpler reads doesn't mean they're any less of a good story)
-Percy Jackson and the Olympians
-Ranger's Apprentice
-Brandon Sanderson stuff (minus WarBreaker, probably)
and of course religious fiction is always fun (Recommended: The Kingdom and the Crown for christians)

I recommend Pingo, a brand new picture book by Brandon Mull. It's good for little kids.

What's against Terry Brooks? I was in ninth grade when I read them, and new to analytical reading, so maybe I just need to go over them again, but I liked the Shannara books. Admittedly, his other books aren't that great. I suggest at least trying the Word and the Void if you're looking for good female leads.

Hoid took it, didn't he?

Maybe Sazed took it to give to Spook. After all, Ati had to spike Spook to give him pewter, so the powers of Ruin and Preservation can't just throw the ability to be Mistings/Mistborn anywhere they feel like it.

Oh good. that Lightsong one confused me for a minute. (I read that in the hardback, not online)

hi. I'm new here.
This is the only place I could find anything on the Hoid phenomenon that I noticed after reading Mistborn and Elantris, and even though I'm not sure of what half the stuff you guys are talking about is, I'm really interested in this Shardworld stuff.
(I can tell by your writing styles that you're all considerably older than I am, so bear with me if I'm not throwing analytical points around) I figure I'll throw my two bits into this discussion:
I noticed that somewhere you were trying to figure out what the six shards are, and I found  Q&A where Sanderson gives the answer to that:
-Ruin, Preservation, Adonalsium, Hoid, BioChroma, and the Dor.
As for the ideas about Hoid being SlowSwift in HoA and the Terris steward in WoA, I think they're both unquestionably true.
Finally, about Hoid's statements on where he learned his storytelling(I just finished Warbreaker) I don't see why those can't apply to Mistborn or Warbreaker itself. Gods die in both and as for the lands coming together, I don't think we know enough history of either world to make a judgement call on it. Could be Hallandren and Vivenna's homeland for all we know. (Hoid was in the future?)
