Brandon Sanderson / Re: Mistborn as a Video Game

Square Enix is pretty good with their storylines. I think it would be interesting to see what they'd do if we threw Mistborn at them. I like the idea of making it like Kingdom Hearts. :)

And I'm only on book four! (I lost it though...)

I was wondering why he referred to Kelsier having 'piggybacked' the power. I just assumed that after Leras died, the power was almost free for the taking, and Kelsier took it(potentially to keep Ruin from doing so). Why couldn't Kell take all of the power, if he could take some of it? Was it simply because the mists chose Vin?

I think it was too small an amount to give her headaches, as for the 'saving up' thing, It's a good point, and my excuse would probably go along the lines of 'that's why her reserve never got very big, even after weeks of non-use. it just stayed at that tiny amount she was getting every day.'

Notice this from book 3 annotations:
Quote
(As a side note to this side note, the planet this is all taking place on is barren and virtually uninhabitable save for the poles, a situation caused by the proximity to the sun. [Editor's note: More on this in a much later annotation.] The Final Empire is at the north pole. What's at the south pole? Hum. I wonder. . . .)

This may be totally wrong since I don't know much about the Shadesmar, but assuming it must have some physical manifestation on every planet, do we know there what would be on Scadriel?

I started reading WoT when i discovered Brandon was going to be finishing them off, and I agree that Jordan tended to get too into detail way too often. I can't wait to get to the ones Brandon's writing.

Mistborn Llama Story?! Do tell! ;D

If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

Tell, regardless. This is how I'm proving my Super-fanness. ;)

I always wondered if maybe Vin would recognize him or something, but there's a few flaws in that theory...
I also wonder if being Slivers somehow ties them into the big picture. Of course, as long as they were Shards they would be majorly important, but I wonder if Slivers still hold a small amount of power,or at least will have to play a part assuming the Shards eventually all come together.

yeah, my brother just showed me the chart on it all...so then do you think that sazed would get his own metal? are atium and lerasium gone?

70
what do we know about the fact that I can count 18 allomantic metals?
1-8-basics
9-malatium
10-gold
11-electrum
12-uh...
13-aluminum
14-duralumin
15-atium
16-lerasium
17-
18-
Sazed told Spook that there are two we don't know about, so that counts 18...

The Kel-sea-ay thing is way too weird for me. Luckily, after long debates, it turns out I've been saying Sazed right.

*sigh* Mistborn was my favorite...we should petition him to write another Mistborn or two between WoK books :P

Books / Re: Twilight is NOT the worst book ever!

Whoever wrote that one was trying way too hard with their words. I must agree that that certainly isn't one of the best pieces of writing I've seen in a while.

Books / Re: Fantasy girls, where are you?
« on: February 12, 2010, 05:04:53 AM »

Most girls tend to enjoy the spacial (geometric) rather than the linear (algebraic) type of make-believe, I think, but I am not one of them.  I like it all as long as it rings true and keeps me entertained and guessing and isn't disgusting.  I don't pay much attention to the mechanics of magic systems.  It's about characters and their interactions and growth.   In other words, Brandon has something for everyone, which is what makes him so universally appealing.

I defiantly prefer geometry to algebra, but I'm the only person I know who does. Contrarily I am very intrigued by the logical side on Brandon's magic systems, and since Mistborn makes the most 'sense' I would say it's my favorite. I certainly agree with your statement on books needing to keep you entertained and guessing without being disgusting, and good character development is essential to any story. I think that what makes Brandon so good for everyone is more the fact that he doesn't try to side on issues, and keeps the male/female characters fairly even(there are more men than women, but the women are pretty important most of the time). It's almost like he's trying to stay on neutral ground so that anyone can read and relate it to their view of the world.
