Brandon Sanderson / Re: Hopes/Predictions/Wild Theories for Book 2

I agree. I can' t see Szeth beating Kaladin. They're both awesome fighters and Szeth has the advantage by a long shot, but Kaladin has the surprise element(big one), Thrill, teamwork, and I was under the impression that Kaladin is a better fighter. Szeth is also an awesome warrior, but if we were to drop it to the two of them with regular sword and spear, I want to believe Kaladin would win.

sorry to jump right over your questions, but I don't have many theories on that:)

it just made me think: what do we know about Szeth? does he/did he have an honorspren bonded to him? After finishing, i had automatically assumed that Szeth had a spren, and just wasn't mentioning it, but maybe that's not right. I'm just delving into all the ideas on WoK now, so I might be behind on some things, sorry:)

I have some really vague memories of having seen Animorph books on the shelves of my 3th grade classroom...I think I read one or two, but I wasn't into reading back then and I wasn't really aware that there was a storyline...or that there were 30+ books for that matter. I recall enjoying them but have no memories that have lasted until now.

Yup. I read HP4 thirteen times before I decided I probably like to read and should try picking up something else--and it all led right here! I read Eragon too and liked it, Eldest and loved it...and it's all gone downhill from there. I'll read the fourth one simply because I can't just not finish a story(same reason I wasted my time reading Twipuke) and be content to move back over here.

I didn't read the chat, so does anyone want to mention the when/where/why of this panel with Sanderson and Paolini?

I enjoyed Eragon and Eldest, but I don't remember a thing about the third one...and even though I liked the books, and I was impressed that he published at 15, I saw elements torn directly out of just about every single fantasy book I've ever read. He's not particularly creative, he just mixes everything at his local library together and makes a story out of it.

That said, I don't think he'll be writing past the Inheritance Cycle, and it'll die off pretty quickly after book 4. Not to mention he only publishes a book every four to five years, which irks me to no end. Brandon is a newer writer, but I don't think it would take much to make him hugely popular--his is the best stuff I've ever read. I have the same problem as Wolfstar--my friends don't read. At all. I've gotten one friend to read Sanderson--and she loved it to pieces--but no one else will even try. So those of you who have book groups or make friendships because of your reading styles will probably have a lot better luck with this than I will.

I think that Neil and Mozzie (from White Collar) fit Kell and Dox really well:)

I haven't seen airbender yet, but feel compelled too. I'm also dreading it. WHY???!!!

Just watch the first season while pretending it is live action. You will walk away much more satisfied.

You're scaring me!! I was so hoping it would be good! :'(

I agree, jjb, Shallan isn't clicking for me, I just don't feel any ties to her yet, but I love Kaladin. His character is totally enthralling and I can't wait to see what happens next:)

This might be totally ridiculous, but is anyone else under the impression that Kaladin might be Hoid?

same reason they burned HP--it's so popular that they assume it's part of some underground witchcraft movement:)

I believe they are refering to a book called Scribbler in which the magic has to do with chalk. if you dig deep enough through the forum you should be able to find the first few chapters, though of course they would be the first few chapters as of several years ago. Still, i think its very interesting and would be happy to read the rest of it.

I just read the chapters! AGH! How do I get more? Talk about a cliffhanger...

And Adonalsium shatters near the beginning of the larger story.

OOoo!! so, he already shattered.

Yep, hence Ruin and Preservation and Endowment and everyone else we've seen so far and don't have names for as of yet, haha.

Something I'm hoping to see, eventually (and perhaps even sooner than later), is a timeline placing Elantris, Mistborn, Warbreaker, and The Stormlight Archive chronologically for us fans.  I imagine the Master will make us wait until he's revealed more about the events surrounding the Shattering and Hoid's plot, but it never hurts to dream.

I thought we already had a timeline somewhere...I just didn't bother to memorize it, other than that Stormlight Archives is the beginning of anything and everything......I think ???
