Video Games / SMG2
« on: May 27, 2010, 06:43:09 AM »
Super Mario Galaxy 2, as of this writing, has just dethroned The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as the single highest rated game of all time.  I should be sad.  OoT is probably my favorite game ever, and I hate to see it knocked down to second place.  But more than that, I'm excited to play the new #1.  It lets me know that, yes, Nintendo really does know what they're doing.  Granted, this is entirely based on scores from Video game publications, and people's opinions can and do vary.  It's been out for three days, all it would take is one less flattering review to put OoT back on top.  But I think I'm okay with the new lineup.  OoT has held that spot for over a decade.  It's time to greet the new.  I just played Galaxy for the first time this weekend.  Time to make a trip to my nearest retailer of Video Game software.

All my info comes from Gamerankings.com.

Rants and Stuff / A Tragedy in the BYU Bookstore
« on: April 21, 2010, 05:44:41 AM »
So there's this shelf in the BYU bookstore where they keep all of Brandon Sanderson's books.  Nice big happy display.  Hardbacks, paperbacks, signed and numbered copies of Warbreaker, The Gathering Storm, Alcatraz, it's all there.  I walk by here from time to time, just so that if anyone happens to glance at them going by I can heartily recommend them.  Now the tragedy.  I went by today, and while the pile is still there, the shelf has now been invaded by a pile of Stephanie Meyer's books.  Brandon Sanderson and Stephanie Meyer, on the same display shelf.  Maybe I'm making too big a deal about this, but this is eating my soul. :'(

Video Games / Beatles Rock Band and my Wii's memory.
« on: January 08, 2010, 07:43:16 PM »
After obtaining Beatles:Rock Band for Christmas, I wasted no time in downloading more songs to play.  Eventually, I realized that each song took a significant chunk of my Wii's memory.  After about ten or eleven songs, my memory was basically packed to bursting, leaving very little room for new games, and none for new songs.  I obtained an SD card and tried putting all the music on there, but discovered to my dismay that the game cannot load the songs from the SD card. (At least, it didn't work when I tried it.)  The best I can figure to do is to accept the song limitations of my hardware and swap between Wii and SD memory whenever I switch to and from Rockband, but that seems like it'll get old real fast. (The transfer takes about two-three minutes)  Anyone know of any solutions I'm not noticing?
