He's a Republican.  First Republican to win a senate seat in Mass. in almost 40 years.

Yesterday, at the end of practice, I took a good hit to the side of my right thumb.  It swelled up nicely and went numb.

Tonight the swelling has mostly reduced, but it's now a light shade of blue, and is very sensitive (sore) to the touch, and I can't apply pressure with it.  I suppose I should be grateful I didn't break it.

I haven't used ICQ in like 10 years.  I may be wrong, however, but isn't ICQ interoperable with AIM?

Our old nerf guns may not have been that cool, but they were still super fun.

I would put money on you finding more autistic charachters in TV and movies than gay charachters. There were entire shows and movies, mainstream ones, which focused on autistic chatachters. Rarely do you find a gay lead. You find more pedophiles in TV and movies than gay people, and i would hazard a guess that less people are pedophiles than are autistic.

You'd lose that money.  Bigtime.

Netflix has listed 509 specific shows/movies with a particularly strong gay/lesbian theme.  This does not even include shows where gay characters are featured, but which are not a primary part of the plot.

You really think there are many more than 500 TV series and movies highlighting Autism?

(And realize, this is only the stuff they stock—I'm sure there's lots more of smaller & foreign stuff out there that Netflix doesn't have listed.)

funny thing is though, most of the gay people i know (and i know alot of them) are deeply religious people, I find it highly ironic.

Why?  Over 90% of the world is religious; why should gays inherently be at a polar opposite?

I think "actually" is used frequently in the US.

Webcomics & Free Stuff / Webcomics suitable for young audiences?
« on: January 12, 2010, 06:17:35 AM »
Hullo!  So, right now I'm making my living tutoring, and one of the subjects I tutor is English.  I have one child in particular I'd love to get reading more, and I think webcomics might be a good way for him to enjoy more reading.

So, my question is, does anyone know of some age-appropriate webcomics?  Some of my favorite webcomics (such as 8bit Theatre and Goblins) have content I would not want to expose a 5th grader to.

Bonus points if the language is simple, but the most important thing is content that is okay for children.  Suggestions?

Indeed; we've got a small but growing group.

It's a mild form of autism with particular characteristics.

Well atleast you enjoy work, plenty of people don't.

I would not have the work I have now had I not spent a long period of time unemployed.  Perhaps if everyone else moved to cities where the economy is shot they too would come up with creative ways of finding employment which are somewhat enjoyable.

That said, it's not like I'm walking in oodles of money right now.  Most professionals would consider my salary woefully inadequate, though the pay isn't too bad for the amount of time I work.
