Brandon Sanderson / Re: Why does this book have a cover from Elantris?

Can anybody point me to an image of the spine for Eye of the World? I could swear that I have seen artwork from the spine reused on another book. It seems that occasionally images do get reused.

I'm one of the ones who will not read the entire series again .... it would just take too long. But I think will will go through the last two in preparation for the new one. That should bring me back up to speed fairly well!

Looking forward to see Brandon's take on the characters, and just how well he can blend his style with RJ's ... hopefully this will work out very nicely!

* Batchman borrows duct tape from Plasman's signature, and sits down with Hero of Ages.

I'm ready!

Spoiler warning :::::::::::::

Bastille dies.

::::::::::::: end spoiler.

Well, is that really a spoiler, consider we all die, eventually?

I don't think I've met you yet, welcome to TWG. ;]

Thanks ... been hanging around for roughly a week or so, commenting here and there, while reading more and more of what Brandon has written.

[edit]One of these days, I will have to start a dream thread here, just so I can comment on the BS / WoT dream I had recently.[/edit]

A few thoughts:

1) Hilarious book, with some wonderful references in it!

2) Loved the dig at Rowling in the very end.

3) Dash it all, his evil plan worked ... I planned to be in bed hours ago.

4) Green persimmons.

V) I caught Spook's little comment in there! You weren't going to slip that past me.

@) Why do I have the strangest feeling that Doc Brown has been reincarnated?

::)) Radiology triggerman Tigger opus dingo.

I stand in awe.

Well, that's not really true. Notebooks are wonderful things, and I lay in bed in awe. Or a fairly awe-like state that would be even more awe-like if I were not so short on that blessed ingredient called sleep. Or at least, I think it would be more awe-like if I weren't short on sleep, but that might be completely inaccurate. So I lay in a more or less awe-like state, unless I don't, depending on how accurate or inaccurate I may be. But I'm going with more or less awe-like for the moment, anyway.

Thanks for another incredible read, Brandon. Also picked up Hero of Ages, and will have to get Alcatraz 2 shortly.

Always remember ... I forget.

PS ... resurrecting old threads be frowned upon, so's I be creating new ones or twos. Hope I don't offends ... or at least only offends in good ways.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Favorite Authors...Where does Brandon Rate?

OK, fourth Sanderson book down, and he's now on my favorite author list ... not in any particular order, but he's in there! I just seem to reallyy enjoy the kinds of writings Brandon does!

Elantris was a heck of a lot of fun, and I just plowed through the entire thing in on sitting, last night!

Mutant Zombie Gods! Way cool!

You know what I notice? I notice that in just about everything of his I have read, people get to turn into gods.

Strange, and reoccuring.

Check out his web site some time (if you haven't already) ...

He's still writing up a storm, though it is all adventure rather than humor, now.

I started Warbreaker (is that the right name) online last night, and had a hard time stopping.

I am almost certain Brandon is going to be in my top ten list in the near future!

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Mistborn: Allomancy or Feruchemy? [ SPOILER ]
« on: August 06, 2009, 07:51:01 PM »

The other may be just as powerful in the long run, or it may not, but Allomancy definitely seems like it would be more simple and more fun.

Show me the funny!

Brandon doesn't make my list yet, because I am too new to him. I have read two books, and through bits and pieces am tremendously interested in three more (plus WOT, of course) but I have only been reading him for a couple of weeks. Give it a few months to sink in, and we'll see where things stand.

I can't put my lists in direct order at this point, so I will mention #1 authors in certain areas.

Children's Humor: Gordon Korman
Non-Children's Humor: P.G. Wodehouse
Science Fiction: Isaac Asimov
Children's Fantasy: JK Rowling
Non-Children's Fantasy: Ray Feist (with honorable mentions to Janny Wurts, David Eddings, Orson Scott Card, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, Terry Pratchett, and many others ... I read more fantasy than anything else.)
Mystery: Dick Francis
Animal Stories: Colonel S.P. Meek
Classics: Dickens? Avoided him due to school, when possible, but recently read David Copperfield and found it a very enjoyable story.

Chapter Seven needed a revision as badly as elf needs food, so I did one.  It clarifies a lot of the language and events.

Gauntlet reference noted and enjoyed! I think I am going to like it here!
