Brandon Sanderson / Re: "Finish The Book...Brandon!!!"
« on: October 02, 2010, 07:11:06 PM »
Considering Brandon still seems to be more or less on target for a book a year to get AMoL finished, I don't think anybody has any right to complain. The speed Brandon works at amazes me.

Besides ... the books might be a lot worse if Brandon didn't take time to recharge between them.

Very odd idea that just popped into mind.

What if his gift was that his wife somehow returned.

And the curse is that he couldn't remember her.

I don't want to lose my head to either kind!

Let me put it this way ... if the current copy stays lost long enough, it might be available in the same way Scribbler has been.

That should be cryptic enough to avoid my death.

No ... but not all hope is yet lost for those who hope for a chance to read this. Don't feel like I can say any more at this point, though. Don't want to lose my head to the evil overlord.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Book Signings
« on: September 03, 2010, 07:41:58 PM »
I was at the signing last night in Orlando.

Some people asked a lot of questions, and were there for quite a while. At first the line barely moved at all. After a while, things started moving more quickly. I don't know if that was because Brandon started limiting the amount of time people could speak to him, or if the people themselves just started to keep the line moving more.

I asked about Scribbler, and received word to look for it next year, and chatted slightly about other things, but then I moved on. I didn't want to, but physically I am a big guy, and I was lugging around five books, and after standing in line for about a half hour, I was about to collapse.

Maybe next time I'll wait until near the end of the signing, then offer dinner, myself.

Well, so much for my note to Peter asking if I could mention this, yet.

I hadn't read on here for a few days. Am staying away until I get through WoK, which only arrived yesterday.

On the other hand, amazon got me my copy of WoK yesterday, when they had told me I wouldn't see it until next week. Which means it arrived on time for the Orlando signing last night.

Was fun to meet Brandon in person, and get to speak to him. The WOT bumper stickers were cool, as well.

And while I got my books signed, I asked about Scribbler and the possibilities of it being the next Y/A, and he said look for it in Fall of 2011, which obviously is no sort of secret at this point.

He also mentioned something else to me about a certain thesis which was nice to hear, however.  ;)

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Mistborn Trilogy Sequel *Spoilers*

Looking forward to Scribbler, myself! Incredible beginning, even if likely to change a bit (to have changed a bit already?) in rewritings.

I'd also be quite happy to see it follow the Alcatraz books.

I'm just really glad there is an Orlando signing this time! I get to attend a signing this year! Yes! Yes!

Yes, what if they make Mistborn into a 30 night mini-series?

Then they could do justice to it.

Me, I'm just a basic fan.

Enjoying watching the competition among you loonies.

I'm hopeful that, unlike Terry Goodkind, Brandon would not allow a project to go forward without making sure it seemed to be a good fit with the story. But (not to be a spoil sport) there is a good chance we won't have to worrry about this for a while.

Books get optioned all the time, and almost never does anything come of it.

I maintain the website of an author friend of mine who has been publishing books for around 30 years ... in that time he has had dozens of options on dozens of books. So far only one has ever come to anything. (Though we're currently hopeful for a project MTV has optioned.)

The same thing that makes Brandon happy with the production company probably makes it a little harder for that production company to sell the picture to a studio.

On the other hand, maybe this will hit a lucky streak, everything will work out, and we'll get to see a good treatment of Mistborn in the theaters! Would be nice ... here's hoping.

Just read both stories, and enjoyed both imensely.

Problem is, now I want to see the novel which follows up on the short story! (Either one!)

Guess I have to just face it, I'm probably going to love just about anything that Brandon ever writes.

I'll edit this as a notice typos.

I believe that should be as *I* notice typos.

Oops... sorry! <ggg>

By the way, what I said about Rand not being in any shape to take the Amyrlin Seat, and having to destroy the WT to get it only applies right now.

If he survives TG and comes out of it fairly sane, and the world can tell things are much better all around, then a male/female WT under Rand might be a much better possibility. (Assuming Egwene can bend enough to allow such a possibility.)

You really should find a different abbreviation for Amyrlin Seat. AS for both Aes Sedai and Amyrlin Seat doesn't work.

You make a good point. I ended up using it for both without quite realising it because I didn't want to misspell Amyrlin.
