A short walk from the Library (heading East toward the mountains) you'll find the Creamery on 9th.  They have really good ice creams and their burgers are made from scratch.  And they're cheap.  If budget is an issue, then I'd say go there, but I haven't been in ages.

If budget isn't an issue I recommend Tucanos, an all-you-can-eat Brazillian BBQ place.  It is pretty much my favorite restaurant in the world.  Not only is the meat fabulous, but they have all kinds of salads and sides that are delicious.

As to places to go, if you're an outdoors type person, there are a billion places to hike.  I recommend rock canyon (if you're short on time) or Stewart Falls (if you've got a few hours).

I had heard of that movie before, and saw a teaser once, but since I didn't have any interest, I looked no further.  Now that I know what it's actually about . . . wow.  Just . . . wow.  Words cannot describe how I feel about that film.  I think I'll take a 'pass' on that particular cinematic masterpiece.

Yay! for awesomeness.  Erik, as always, you never fail to please.  I enjoyed the chapter immensely, never sure where it was going to lead, and thus entertained all the more.

I only found one part that I'd change: when they are going through the portal, you talk about the few people who are going through, and then one of them gets shot by an arrow.  I had to re-read that paragraph a couple of times before I understood what was going on.  You might give it a look.

Other than that, the chapter was awesome.  I'd have to read the previous chapters to remember if there are any continuity issues, but that can be done on a beta.  Anyway, well done.

I just finished The Truth Is a Cave in the Dark Mountains, a short story by Neil Gaiman.  It was awesome.  It's in the Anthology Stories which Gaiman edited.  It's only 24 pages long so if you happen to be idling in Barnes & Noble like I was tonight . . .

Well, they're saying MGM may be retiring James Bond.  Sounds like as good a time as any for a high-tech futuristic replacement. :)

Been about 15 years for me since I picked Harrison up.  Some of my fondest book memories come from Slippery Jim DeGriz.  The Stainless Steel Rat rocked.  :)

Harry Harrison is great if you're into science fiction/satire.  The Adventures of the Stainless Steel Rat was/is awesome.

Yes, but as a movie it did get better as it went along.  Unfortunately, that's only because the beginning was done so abismally awful.

I am three books into the Malazon series, and while the violence, rape, etc. is there, none of it has been gratutitous or thrown in for shock value.  Erickson (imho) has handled it very tastefully.  And just so you know, I won't read an author who doesn't.

House of Chains is next on my list.  Glad to hear it was awesome.

House of Chains involves one of my favorite characters.  Love it.

Again, I'm happy to hear the positive recommendations.  I was a bit worried since I loathed Tavore and was tepid at best regarding the rest of Deadhouse Gates.  I almost stopped reading the series after that book.  If I hadn't already purchased Memories of Ice, I might have given up early.

Dude, Kaz, flag your list with a massive *SPOILERS* warning.  I'm on book three, and just seeing how the deck has shifted spoiled some minor plot twists for me.  Luckily I have a little self control and stopped reading after I saw that Hood no longer sat on Death's throne.

Jedi can be outthought and killed. See: here.

I really love that droid.  He was my favorite character from KOTOR.  Almost makes me wish I was carbon based so I could refer to people as "meatbags".

I would like to announce that I had my gall bladder removed last Thursday and that the drugs they have me on for the pain are all kinds of fun :)
