Everything Else / Re: Names?
« on: June 29, 2007, 05:31:05 AM »
It's good insurance against telemarketers, and someday my son Padraig will thank me. As it is, he already feels unique and special because he usually gets a look of surprise when he spells his name for people.  Now if I can just get him to be a little more choosy about to whom he spells his name . . . I shoulda taken the OB's advice and given him the middle name of Knucklehead. Or maybe Precocious.

Emron sounds too much like Enron--just my two cents.

Let's see:

Dafyd (Welsh for David)
Matthias
Roine (not French! It's Swedish, I promise!)
Howell

These are all that's coming to mind at the moment. I'd recommend other names, but I had to use up most of mine when I kept having boys. :P

My boys went from 3+ boxes full of toys to less than one. Yay! Less to clean!

If you like the more rock-style stuff, you just might like Abingdon. I'm ok with their general style--it's a little avant-guard and it has a nice edge to it. My only problem is the reason I mentioned before. If you're interested, the most accessible things my be "Howling" (which is the current opening for Darker than Black), and "Innocent Sorrow" (which was the first opening for D. Gray-man).

I'll definitely try Chara and the Asian Kung-fu albums.

Well, her KHII song is on the album. :P

Thanks for the recommendations!  Let's see. I have ”リライト” (obviously) by Asian Kung-fu Generation, and I like it enough to look into them a bit further. I'll only look into Chara if you can promise me she's not bubble-gum J-Pop.

I'm kinda avoiding Abingdon Boys School (simply because I don't like Nishikawa's vocal style) and L'Arc~en~Ciel, but they're hard to avoid since they're *everywhere.* Other than that, any recs are appreciated.

Ultra Blue by Utada Hikaru. (Yes, I've finally fallen into listening to J Pop.) This album has several fantabulous songs and is well worth the extra cost to get it imported.

Sounds like fun! I'll be there.  If you don't mind, I'll probably pack up the Nintendo to keep my boys busy like last time.

Hehe! I haven't seen that one, but my personal favorite is the shiny black Toyota Prius with the vanity plate "PORTKEY."

Just make sure your breathing addiction doesn't turn into an albuterol addiction (like mine kinda has).

Books / Re: What are you reading, part 3

Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott. I'm about half-way through, and if I have to read another rhapsody about the glory of dying a chivalrous death, I may have to hurl all over the book.

So, who walked away with my DVD?

Nessa,

Would it be a problem if I brought my three boys on Saturday? I don't intend to have them watch the Rifftrax with us, so I'm wondering if it would be ok for them to either play with your munchkins or play GameCube/PS2 in another room. (Or both.)

D'oh. I'm not sure why it's not working. I so fail at linkage.
