A lot of people describe Scalzi’s Old Man's War novels as military science fiction, but I would classify its sequel Zoë’s Tale as a space opera. Have we agreed on some sort of tag for the mails? Being able to shield them from the attentions of overzealous spam filters would be quite handy, I think.

Submissions and critiques is what I meant. "Who did how much work" might have made things clearer, if only slightly. I've had a long day, coffee hasn't kicked in yet, I'm too tired to think straight, let alone write intelligibly.

Right, you can call me Flo, everyone does. I'm 22 years old, a student of English Language and Literature (with a side dish of History), and I wrote my first (extremely short) novel when I was eight or so. I believe it was a sort of fanfic of the Famous Five series (or some other similar series, I can't remember), featuring the search for a stolen necklace that ended with an encounter with aliens emerging from UFOs that had landed in the robbers' cave.
Anyways, I have one technically finished manuscript that I'm in the process of rewriting, and once I'm done with that I'll throw a coin to decide whether to continue with fantasy or sci-fi - and I hope to be done sometime early next. Apart from that I've had a few periods of not writing anything, and a few more of writing the first few chapters and then losing interest. Working with a proper outline and and ending to aim for seems to have taken care of that habit, though.

Not having to critique each and every mail I receive to stay in the group sounds absolutely marvelous to me. 
A list of who did how much sounds like a good idea, too, although I wouldn't want to be the one responsible for managing that list.

I probably won't be submitting anything myself for a while, what with ink on paper being not exactly easily mailable and all, but I aim to begin digitalisation sometime early next year...

Great. You sign up, find the forum empty, go and do other stuff for a few days and now there's dozens of posts that I'm too lazy to read. I hope this hasn't been suggested before, but how about splitting things up into smaller groups, genre-wise? Because I for one would really like to join in on the fun, the length of the email list is a bit daunting, however.
